Review: Columbia House mailed merchandise that was not ordered and was immediately returned. Complaint via email ignored. More merchandise mailed with bills.
In late September, I received a DVD from Columbia House in the mail. I had not ordered it and wrote on the package "return to sender" and sent it back. I have received multiple bills for this DVD. I finally emailed after a second bill to their customer service department on 10/15. I told them I did not order it, I am not paying for it and they received their unordered merchandise back. I asked that I be removed from their mailing list and my account be closed because I will not ever order from them. My email was ignored. Today (11/1), I received a second unordered DVD in the mail. I will be returning this immediately as well. Conveniently for Columbia House, when you simply write "return to sender" on merchandise, it still goes through their UPS account and tracking so I have no way to prove that they are receiving their merchandise. But I also do not believe the burden should be mine since I have not ordered these materials from them. I should not have to package myself and pay for tracking and shipping to return something I never wanted to begin with. I do not want their merchandise and want them to stop mailing me things. Since I have not been able to even get a response from their "customer service" department, I have no idea what to do. But I refuse to let their pushy and unsolicited sales tactics impact my credit rating since they continue to bill me for merchandise I did not order, did not keep and do not want. It is unfair and unethical. Please help me.Desired Settlement: What I want is simple:
1. Remove charges from the account they set up for me without permission and for merchandise that was returned to them.
2. Remove my account from their solicitation list. I'm not at all interested especially now that they continue to use these sales tactics.
3. Never mail me anything ever again - unsolicited materials and/or bills for goods they already have back in inventory.
I just want to be left alone.

I ordered 4 movies back on 11/26/13. These movies never showed up. I notified the company of such through several emails. I got told to investigate why I never received the ite**. I told them that was their job and to zero my account since they could not help me out in figuring this out. I want my account brought to a zero balance. This is not the first time this has happened.Desired Settlement: I want my account balance be brought to zero and no more harassing bills for ite** I did not receive.

Review: Company refuses to cancel my membership account
Company refuses to cancel my membership account even after many attempts to contact them. I keep getting DVD's in the mail that were declined by me in the monthly service. I am consistently overcharged, $30 for a DVD that sells for $20 every where else.
I have been unable to find a telephone number any where for customer support and all of my support requests via their web site have gone unanswered.
Thank you very much for your time. Sincerely, [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would very much like to get my membership canceled and cease further relationships with this company.

Review: Billing me for DVDs I have already paid for.
Account number [redacted]. I received a statement dated 5/29/14 stating I owe $51.88. They say I owe for the following from these dates: 12/18/13 The Conjuring $9.47; 1/27/14 Slither $5.35; 1/27/14 The Uninvited $5.95; 1/27/14 Drag Me To Hell $5.95; 1/27/14 We're the Millers $21.57; 2/12/14 Haunter $2.99 for a total of $51.88. It stated that "Due to a recent system error, your credit/debit card or [redacted] account on file were not charged for recent order(s) shipped to you." I found the documents proving where these had been paid for. I called them and they said to fax the documents to Brian B[redacted]. I did this and heard nothing back. I emailed them attaching all the documents stating exactly what each one contained and what is was for. According to the documents I found The Conjuring was was sent on 12/18/13 and was charged to a [redacted] ([redacted]) credit card on Dec 20, 2013. It was included in the $23.81 charge. Slither, Drag Me to Hell, Uninvited and We're the Millers were sent on 1/23/14 and was charged to the same card as above. Haunter was sent on 2/12/14 and was paid through [redacted] according to a bank statement on 2/18/14. I also stated to them that if I received another statement saying I still owed this that I would be filing a complaint with the Revdex.com. I received an email stating they had received it and would try to respond in 2 to 3 days. That was dated June 25, 2014. I have heard nothing from them until the other day when I received another statement dated 9/11/14 stating I still owe $51.88. I printed off all the information I emailed to them plus the emails and sent it via regular mail.Desired Settlement: I want them to update my account that these have been paid and to quit sending me statements I owe them money.

My name is [redacted]. I joined Columbia House over two years ago. Over the past year,
they modified their website and I am unable to get access to it. I emailed them on more than
three occasions and tried to contact them. They told me they were "looking into it," and would
get back to me. It never happened. They keep sending me new DVD's that I don't want and
I keep sending them back, "Return to Sender." I am attempting to stop this by sending this

my agreement with them over a year ago. Please help!

Review: June 24, 2013 I placed an order online with Columbia House (www.columbiahouse.com). I received confirmation of my order June 30. The order was for 2 DVD movies totaling $31.90. Because I had a credit of $2.65 (for previous overpayment) on my account, the balance owed was $29.25. By July 17, I still hadn't received my order so I called customer service. I was told I'd receive it by Friday July 19. I called again on July 22-23 & to inform them I still hadn't received it. I was told the item shipped July 2 & to allow 3-4 weeks delivery. I informed agent I've always received my orders within 10 business days. Agent stated it doesn't usually take 3-4 weeks but that's how long they have to wait before they can research. Agent stated I should receive shipment by July 26. Order still hadn't arrived so I called again July 31. Informed agent I was upset & wanted my order. 4 weeks had passed since shipment date, still no shipment. Agent said there was nothing she could do about it. I asked agent to cancel the order, remove the balance due (since I hadn't received the shipment), & to permanently close my account. Agent assured me all requests had been honored and were effective immediately. August 3 my account was still open, active, and showing a balance. I emailed Columbia House informing them I was not pleased that the account was still open days after my request for account to be closed. I received a response to my email on August 10. Agent apologized for inconvenience and stated account would be closed. Today is September 7, 2013. I will assume the shipment was canceled since I've not received it, however, my account is still open, active, and showing a balance. It only took an hour for them to create my account years ago. Why is it taking more than a month to close the account? I have been a customer for years and have already met my purchase obligation therefore there is no acceptable reason why my account is still open (with a balance) more than a month after I requested for it to be closed.Desired Settlement: I am not worried about the credit/refund of $2.65. They can keep that. I would, however, like for the balance of $29.25 to be removed since I never received the products. Once that has been proven complete, I would then like my account to be permanently closed, including but not limited to online access. Once this too has been proven to be completed, I would then like all communications with this company to cease.

Review: I am being charged $90.21 by a collection agency called [redacted] on behalf of Columbia House. I have talked to CHouse and they don't know who I am
The collection agency, [redacted], told me it is common for Columbia House to charge people under mailing practices that are now illegal. Essentially, Columbia House sent out a mailing many years ago and I discarded it. They assumed I wanted membership, by not returning the mailing advertisement, and these are practices now deemed illegal. I have not received any goods or services from Columbia House and should not have to be a victim of unfair billing practices.Desired Settlement: I request the withdrawal of these charges from my credit report. It is wrong to force people to pay unjust charges by attacking their credit score. I feel like I am dealing with the mafia.

Numerous years ago, I ordered music through Columbia House. I received some cd's, but never received all of the cd's per the agreement I had with Columbia House to complete the membership. I did not receive any notification that I owed them any money and shouldn't have to pay for goods I never received. Review: Did not order products and cancelled membership.
Approximately four years ago, I paid for my fulfillment obligation with this company instead of ordering dvds from them because I no longer purchase dvds. After two years of no communication, they started sending me dvds I did not order. All were returned to sender. At this time, I also requested my membership be officially cancelled. They continued to send me dvds I have not ordered and have never acknowledged my cancellation requests or refunded my account. Due to their continued negligence and harassment, I am submitting this complaint. I just want my membership to finally be cancelled and my account refunded. The total charges so far are only $42.94, but it's the principal of the thing and this is just ridiculous!Desired Settlement: I want my account officially cancelled, I want confirmation in writing of the cancellation; and my account credited in full for products I do NOT have.

I am rejecting this response because: My complaint is with Columbia House Dvd Club not Direct Brands. Plus, I never mentioned anything about my credit report - did this woman even read the complaint? Review: False derogatory account placed on Credit Report
I discovered upon receiving my credit report that there was a past due account from Columbia House DVD posted June 2010. I never ordered from Columbia House DVD. I had received a "Free" Music CD to try, which I returned. I called and made sure the account was cancelled, as well as, wrote, "Refused Return to Sender" on the package. I never received another CD, nor was there any further communication. I have read 100's, if not more, consumer complaints stating the same issue of a derogatory account placed on their credit report. I would like to have the Columbia House DVD account removed from my credit report.Desired Settlement: I would like to have the Columbia House DVD account removed from my credit report from all three Credit reporting agencies. Review: Columbia House has refused to terminate my account in spite of previous attempts to close the account.
On at least two separate occasions, my credit card company has on file that I have contacted Columbia House to terminate my account with them. In at least one instance, my credit card company has put me in direct contact (ca November 2010) with a representative to terminate my account; only after said "termination," I continued to receive notices for automatic shipments, etc. They continue to use expired credit card information in an attempt to send these automatic shipments. In May 2013, I sent Columbia House a letter, again, requesting my account be closed, and gave them a date of which I wanted this account closed by. This date was July 15. Although the address listed with the Revdex.com is for Indiana, I sent the letter to an address in [redacted], IL. I have yet to receive a response to my letter, stating that my account has been closed. I am in good standing with this company, having fulfilled their requirements for membership; I haven't ordered anything from this group since maybe around 2004-2005.Desired Settlement: I want my account truly terminated, along documentation from Columbia House stating such. This documentation needs to be signed, as I stated in my letter to Columbia House.

Review: I was a member of Columbia House for several years and have long ago satisfied my contract with the company. I moved from Iowa to Kentucky in April 2013, and in May, I cancelled my account with Columbia House. Before I cancelled my account, I was sent one DVD that I am sure that I declined in time on-line, but instead of sending it back, I paid for it and gave it as a gift (it was a DVD a friend happened to want). Then I cancelled. I have been living in Kentucky for 5 months and have not received any more mailings, e-mails, packages, or solicitations from Columbia House, until today. Columbia House sent me a Director's Selection DVD, even though my account has been cancelled for 5 months, and it requests payment of $25.94 by October 8, 2013. I had not changed my address with Columbia House after I moved to Kentucky, so this unsolicited package first came to Iowa, then was forwarded to Kentucky by the USPS mail forwarding service. And odd observation is that although my name and old address clearly show in the window of the package, someone ripped open the box and put a rubber band back around it to keep it closed in shipping. Everything appears intact in the box (wrapped DVD, paper bill, advertising), but I am concerned that if the box was opened, it cannot be "returned to sender." I did not personally open the box. I looked at the bill for this particular shipment, and it shows no past due amount, so I know that Columbia House was not soliciting me between the time I had cancelled and this current package. If it was and the package was not reaching me, I imagine I would have seen a pretty big bill stacked up. I went to the website and tried to log in to see if my account was erroneously still in effect. It was not; my e-mail address was not recognized by the Columbia House website anymore. Then I looked on the new bill to see that there is indeed an account number that was my old account number. I entered that in the account number box as you would if you were trying to set up a new account. It then came up with my name and old address as being associated with that account, but it gave me an e-mail as "DVD_[redacted]@directbrands.com" That is obviously not my e-mail address, so I went no further on the website. I speculate that if I had gone further to reestablish my account on-line, that is exactly what Columbia House would want, to be able to suck me back in. I will attempt to reach Columbia House by phone on Monday (previous attempts failed).Desired Settlement: I would like my account cancelled for good and I would like notification that cancellation has happened. I would like Columbia House to either take back its unsolicited CD at its expense or allow me to keep it as the gift that it appears to be (being unsolicited). I do not want any expenses concerning this unsolicited DVD. I want my name and account permanently removed from Columbia House's records. And I want to be ensured by Columbia House that this will never happen again.

[redacted] Date Filed: 11/13/2013 1:07 AM
The following is a review of Complaint ID [redacted]. Although this complaint was closed on October 11, 2013, Columbia House is continuing to send me unordered DVDs even though my account has been cancelled since May 2013 and the Revdex.com was assured that Columbia House would not do this anymore. First, the review.... I was a member of Columbia House for several years and have long ago satisfied my contract with the company. I moved from Iowa to Kentucky in April 2013, and in May, 2013, I cancelled my account with Columbia House. Before I cancelled my account, I was sent one DVD that I declined in time on-line, but instead of sending it back, I paid for it and gave it as a gift (it was a DVD a friend happened to want). Then I cancelled. I had been living in Kentucky for 5 months and had not received any more mailings, e-mails, packages, or solicitations from Columbia House, until September, 2013, when I received an unordered package from Columbia House consisting of the "Director's Selection" DVD. Columbia House sent me this Director's Selection DVD, even though my account had been cancelled for 5 months, and it requested payment of $25.94 by October 8, 2013. Everything appeared intact in the box (wrapped DVD, paper bill, advertising), but I am concerned that if the box was opened, it cannot be "returned to sender." I did not personally open the box. I will attempt to reach Columbia House by phone on Monday (previous attempts failed). [redacted] End review of Complaint ID [redacted]. This previous situation was handled by the Revdex.com as complaint Complaint ID [redacted] on 10/1/2013, when Columbia House replied that the shipment was a mistake due to their electronic system upgrade. I was assured I would be taken off their mailing list and that the issue would not happen again. I accepted Columbia House's response to the Revdex.com on 10/11/2013. Please refer to that complaint. NEW COMPLAINT: Yesterday, 11/12/2013 I received yet another unordered package of a Director's Selection DVD from Columbia House. I have never had any contact with Columbia House since the Revdex.com was our intermediary to clear up the problem in mid-October. It looks as though the problem is not cleared up and I am still in Columbia House's system, being mailed Director's Selection DVDs, and being charged for them, although I no longer have an account with Columbia House and have not had one since May of this year. Columbia House still has my old Iowa address, not my new Kentucky address, so I am sure that no new account would have or should have been generated under my name.
Desired Settlement
For the second time.....I would like my account cancelled for good and I would like notification that cancellation has happened. THIS TIME, I would like a formal letter in the mail from Columbia House apologizing to me for the inconvenience of having to submit two Revdex.com complaints in the span of two months, and I would like written assurance in this letter that my name has been permanently taken off Columbia House's mailing list and that my account is CANCELLED.
Desired Settlement: Other (requires explanation)

Review: I cancelled membership in aug 13. they sent 2 dvd in sept 13 that I returned. still haven't recd credit for charges to debit card aft sev req by email
I cancelled my membership in Aug 2013. In September 2013 on two consecutive days I received DVDs from them that I didn't order (for which they charged my debit card on file for purchases). On the following consecutive days I returned them via mail. I waited for 10-14 days before I contacted them via email asking where my refunds were. I received no responses nor did I receive my refunds. I have contacted them on numerous occasions to no avail and have yet to receive my refunds. I am very unhappy.Desired Settlement: I want a refund for both DVD in the amount of 52.00

Review: I sat on hold for an extended amount of time to discuss my account, and then was hung up on.
On 8/26/2013, I call the customer service line, after getting no response from the "contact us" section of their website the previous week. I sat on hold for 30 min, and then was disconnected. I called back and sat on hold for 48 min, and was again disconnected. I called back a third time and sat on hold for 25 min before a person answered the phone. My original reason for calling was to verify that I would not recieve their monthy selection and to complain about the website not allowing my access to my account. After sitting on hold for so long, I demanded my account be closed. I have been a member for several years, and feel this was a ridiculous amount of hold time. I stressed to the customer service tech that I want verification that the account was closed be sent, in letter form, to my address. He asked "Are you done?" and when I replied that I was, he hung up on me. My account number is [redacted].
I feel the wait time alone is very inappropriate, and then him hanging up on me was not justified. I admit I did raise my voice to him, but there is no excuse for the lack of communication via the email system, and the extended wait times.Desired Settlement: I want verification that the account has been closed, and that I will not receive any automatic charges to my bank card as of this date, 26 August 2013.
