Review: I rented a storage unit a couple of years ago. I took out the automatic withdrawal of my rent from my debit card so there would be no problems with me missing any payments. I only go there when I need to add or get an item out of storage ,every 6 months or so.I went two weeks ago and access was denied.I come to find out that my debit card ( with the same number it still has now) was somehow denied. They had charged me late fees last year saying that it took 2 weeks for the bank to honor the withdrawal. I explained that that was impossible because my account is set up that the bank pays any bill and then would charge me an overdraft fee.We resolved that by them waiving all the late fees.The first rent that was suppossedly denied was on 9/01/14.($57.43) On 9/8 they charged me $20.00 late fee. On 915 they charged me $10.00 late fee and on 922 they charged me another $10.00 late fee. The exact same thing happened for the month of October and then again for the month of November bring my new bill to $282.29.They wrote back and said the would waive Novembers late fee.I offered to pay just my rental fees and they rejected my offer.I don't know what to do because they have my property locked up and I will not pay all that late fee money to them. They never notified me that they suppossedly could not get their money from my bank or I would have found out why. If I didn't go to the unit until ,just say next June to put away some winter stuff I would have owed them my life savings. I don't know who else to turn to to fix this situation.Desired Settlement: I am willing to pay what should have been deducted from my account and that is 3 months of rent ($172.29) but not pay their late fees of $110.00. After that I can assure you I will find a new storage company in Hamden with better customer service practices.
