are chosen by the purchaser and indicated on the permit and are only for the following purposes:Washington State Patrol InspectionScale weight slipEmission TestCalifornia Emissions Compliance VerificationWSP verification of a stolen vehicleFor the customer complaining this permit was approved because he was titling an unlicensed vehicle and it was coming out of customs. The $30.00 trip permit is to be utilized per the State for when a vehicle registration is expired or current gross weight is not enough for the load being carried. Trip permits come with some restrictions but are the permit option for when a vehicle is in need of repair before the vehicle can go through emissions or an unregistered vehicle needs to be moved from one location to another. Given that the complaining customer indicated that the customer in front of him was moving a vehicle from one location to another for repairs the proper permit was sold. If the transit permit had been sold to that customer and they were pulled over by a policing authority a hefty ticket could have been given to that customer. Our staff is highly trained by the State and the County and our customer service must follow the Department of Licensing laws/policies/rules or they can be reprimanded and possibly lose their jobs. The staff at this location has collectively over 50 years of Washington State DOL experience.I have included my Pierce County Liason on this response, Christy G[redacted], because it befuddles me that the Washington DOL would indicate anything different regarding the permits than is outlined in the help and training guidelines available to all staff. Perhaps the correct information was not provided to Washington DOL by the complaining customer but nevertheless we will follow up with them to ensure what information was provided. Also, the Washington State DOL website has information regarding the $30 trip permit but not the $5 transit permit so I will be suggesting that be added so any customer can review the policy and guidelines of trip and transit permits.I am sorry this customer is confused but our staff provided the correct permits in both cases and this has been confirmed with our governing county.Sincerely,Mike and Jean F[redacted] - owners
Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: · The agent I called at Washington DOL (360-902-3770) said the $5 trip permit can indeed be used for vehicle repairs. If this is not the case, I suggest you, and them, get on the same sheet of music. · The agent at your office told the customer “there was no cheaper permit than the $30 permit” This is a direct lie; if there is one, but it does not fit the circumstances, that should be explained. · Other facets of my transaction were not conducted properly, I was not told all my options, false assumptions were made. · There was not an atmosphere of trying to get the best product for the customer, the atmosphere was of charging the most we can charge. Sincerely, [redacted]
