Review: I applied for a personal loan online. I received a call saying that I was approved for a loan in the amount of 4,000 dollars. I was told that I would have to pay the loan off in 3 years in the amount of 121.00 a month and that the first 4 payments will b the collateral payments. I was told that I needed to get to a fax machine to get the contract. I went and received the fax with the information. I signed the contract and sent it back.I got a call within a hour of sending the fax. I was told that I had to make the collateral payments up front. They told me to send them a payment of around 460.00. I told them that I was unable to make the payment till the following week. I receive SSI so I would have to wait till I get my check. They said they would set a call back the following Tuesday 1/*/14. Which was a good thing for me because it gave me time to think and do research about it. After looking up personal loans I found that it is illegal for a company to ask for the money up front on a personal loan.With all the scams going on I did not think that I would get trapped in one. Being that I am not stupid and aware of most scams really thought that it would happen to me. Now I am worried that my identity and information was stolen.I am 35 and have a family of 5 when I had to tell my wife it crushed her. I have [redacted] and have not worked in 5 years. This loan would have give us a car and place to live. It really crushed us I just started getting my checks in November. It is really a shame and I just done know what else to say.Desired Settlement: I would like to know if my identy was stolen. I would also like to let others know so that they will not have the same thing happen to them. If you can help please do. I will be contacting the local news next. Other than that I would ask for help in resolving this matter.
