[redacted] walked into our facility on his own free will. He was given the membership rates and he chose the membership which was $0 Down/$59.99 monthly. Since we don't stick people into a 1 or 2 year contract, they pay their first and last payment upon joining. We tried to run his...
card and it declined the transaction. He told us to run it the very next day that his deposit must not have shown up yet. He joined on May 7th, so we were supposed to run his payment on May 8th. On May 8th when his payment was declined again, we called and left a message and he was even sent a text message informing him of his declined payment. He ignored the calls & text messages that were sent to him daily asking for a different form of payment. Finally, after about a week he informed us that he had changed his mind and he couldn't afford it because he had just paid his [redacted] membership. We told him we understood and would give him 30 days free since he had already paid one gym membership and couldn't afford two, which would give him time to cancel his [redacted] membership. He said "OK, Thank You". Some time went by and he called and asked to cancel his membership, he was informed of the cancellation policy and was told he could not cancel if he owed an outstanding balance (which he did since none of his billing ever went through). He was never baited into signing anything, everything is printed in black and white on the front of our membership, and we never ask for payment information until the end of the joining process. He willingly gave us his billing information and he willingly joined our facility. He was given a copy of his membership with the 3 day cancellation policy and 30 day cancellation policy clearly printed on it. It sounds like [redacted] was embarrassed about his payment not going through since he is a local business owner. I am attaching a copy of his membership form.
