Review: I had laminate countertops placed in my kitchen and three bathrooms. After placement, I noticed that there were several areas where the seal (where the counter's top meet the side laminate) was not tight. It looked like a gray/black "hairline (or more)" gap. Over a five month period, since the countertops were installed, a couple of the gaps have widened and the laminate is pulling away from the particle board. Now I can see that all of these "hairline" gaps allow moisture to penetrate, the seal is broken, and the laminate loosens. There could be other explanations, other variables, but for whatever reason - the laminate is failing to one degree or another.
Only two adults live in the house and water is not allowed to sit on the countertops.
I sent photos through the email showing evidence of the problems.
They offered to replace the countertop in one of the bathrooms, but refuse to do anymore repair or correct the poor seals in the kitchen, and the other bathrooms.
I am concerned that all of these gray/black lines could already be leaking and contaminating the integrity of the underlying particle board, which could also cause the laminate to fail.
In addition, they placed tile next to the laminate. Within days, the grout began to dissolve, and showed up looking like dirt on my countertop. They re-did the grout (although some cracks and dissolution remain). They supposedly sealed the grout, yet when water touches the grout it still absorbs and does not bead-up.Desired Settlement: I would like them to redo all of the countertops entirely (since all of them have this problem), and make sure the seal is tight with no gray/black lines.
I would like the grout to be sealed with the proper sealer so that water beads up and does not penetrate the grout.
