Review: Good day Ma'am/ Sir, I am filing this complaint for billing and customer service issue. I went to Fairchild Automotive 2/4/15 for a smog check of my car. I asked the lady who helped me what time I will be back. She told me in 10- 20 mins. So after 12-15 mins she called me back and said it was done. Only to find out that my car failed the smog check. I asked them why, they said I had my check engine light on. And I have to pay them even if I failed. I was upset why I have to pay them. But I did pay $ 41.99. So I told them, no one informed me that I have to pay even if the test failed. And besides, if they really have good customer service, they should inform ahead the customer their rules, because it's not good to assume. And another thing, they know that when the check engine light is on, it automatically fails the test. And they were not honest enough to just tell their customer , when they turn the car on,that the check engine light was on.They still continue to check it despite they know it would fail. What kind of business is this? They are just after the money. They should inform their customer ahead that fail or pass ,payment is required. And they should also inform ahead that any lights that are on, be it,check engine light, vsc, tire pressure etc. needs to be taken care of before they will do the smog check. This is not good service and I want my money back pls. Thank you so much and I hope you can help me pls.Desired Settlement: I just want my money back and they need to have good customer service information.Because not all customer know the business' s policy. And not all drivers know everything about their car. Thank you.

Response:
Company states: There are signs posted all over stating "State inspection due whether vehicle passes or fails. " Consumer signed the paper that states this. When we begin testing we cannot stop due to regulations in place and the consumer at that time told us she had a check engine light. This would cause an automatic fail. If the consumer had told us about this upfront and indicated when she was going to smog the car then we would have informed her the best thing to do. She has signed on two different pages accepting the test.
