Dear Revdex.com,
Review: I brought my 2004 BMW M3 into F2 Motorwerks for a couple routine maintenance items. There were no issues with the car when it was brought in. I called multiple shops prior to bringing the car in to get a labor quote on the amount of time the work would take to perform. On par with the other shops I called, F2 Motorwerks told me it would be 5 hours of work at $109/hour. I dropped the car off on a Tuesday morning with the expectation to pick it up that afternoon or Wednesday morning. I did not have the car back until the following Tuesday. The initial reason for the delay was because the shop lost the tool that was necessary to perform the job and had to borrow it from another shop. When I went to pick the car up Friday after being made aware it was ready, the check engine light was on and the car was not running right. I then had to leave the car over the weekend for them to look at. On Monday I was again made aware the car was ready and went to pick it up. After driving for about 10 miles I noticed a burning smell and smoke under the hood. I returned the car to F2 again and had them further correct their mistakes. The car was finally made available Tuesday, a full week after I dropped it off. The shop then charged me for 11 hours of labor instead of 5 because their mechanic was not completing the job correctly. I have since called Advantage BMW and have a written quote from them for the amount of labor hours the job should have taken. During the week without my car I had to rent a car. The shop is also 25 miles from my house and 40 miles from my work. I made 3 trips out there to pick the car up and it was not ready. I have further details but am limited on the number of characters I can input on this form (the shop replaced and charged me for additional parts without my approval). This is a generic overview of the issue. I am more than willing to submit the 13 pages of explanation and witness testimony I have typed if necessary to proceed to a court of law.Desired Settlement: I would like a settlement for the amount of labor overcharged, days with a rental car for their mistakes, and unnecessary trips to their shop. $850

This letter is to inform you of the actions taken to repair
the vehicle brought in by Mr. [redacted].
Customer called [redacted] before bringing the car to get an estimate on
having his valves adjusted ONLY. I gave
him an estimate for such work over the phone and I remember it was for
545.00. Customer stated he was going to
supply the valve cover gasket set.
Customer dropped off the car when I was not here and told my service
advisor that he also wanted to get some bolts installed and left a bag of parts
with him. We told him that it was
additional work to install those bolts and O rings supplied. He authorized the work and proceeded. When he picked up his car, we explained to
him what repairs were done to his car several times. We also replaced his spark plugs and a
leaking oil line at no cost in labor (customer knew about the costs). I explained to him personally that we had
to disassemble his entire Variable Timing unit to replace O rings and bolts supplied and that is why it was more labor than what I had estimated over the phone. After he picked up the car he noticed the
check engine light coming on and I proceeded to check it at no cost. It turned out to be a misfire fault code that
I told him to bring back and repair while the engine was cold. I disassembled the car and found a problem
with a cam shaft position sensor that was not aligned properly. I repaired the car at no cost to the customer
and sent him on his way. We charged
the client the proper labor times and parts with taxes on them. Not at any time did I charge the client
additionally for work done because the mechanic didn’t do it right the first
time like he stated. I will gather all
my paperwork and have it ready if I have to explain my case to a Judge.
Regards,
