Excelsior Auto Collision & Towing

Review: My car was towed from a parking space that was not marked as a tow away zone. When I called the number posted that towed away cars I reached a man on a cell phone with a heavy accent. He told me to "walk to the front of the Westin Hotel" which was nearby. When I got to the front of the Westin a very muscular middle aged African American male told me that he had my car. He told me to get into his truck and he would drive me to the lot where my car was. I felt uncomfortable getting in a car with a stranger so I had a friend drive me to the address the driver gave me. When I told him I would drive separately he seems a bit distraught. He then told me I needed to call ahead and give them my credit card number to pay for the tow. I proceeded to call the number and give my credit card number and security code over the phone. The address was for a Shell gas station. When I arrived my car was in fact there as was the tow truck driver who had offered to give me a ride. My car was not in an impound lot, no business or cashier was associated with the Shell gas station parking lot. The tow truck driver asked for my driver's license and tried to take a picture of it with his cell phone. When I realized what he was trying to do I did not allow him to take the picture. I quickly got into my car and drove away. I was afraid for my safety and I quickly realized it was not a legitimate towing company and I felt they were trying to take advantage of me.Desired Settlement: I first and foremost would like a refund for this illegal and improper towing of my vehicle. Secondly, this was a scary experience for me I would like to warn the public to stay away from this company.
