I had minor surgery from Evergreen Health. During the surgery they gave me a blood infection which required an ER visit. I paid these bills as presented. A year later they began sending numerous, conflicting bills. They told me they were in error and to ignore them. Several months ago I received another bill, 300% more than the original. Evergreen bills and assertions conflicted with the Cigna Explanation of Benefits. After at least 6 requests, I finally received a call from a supervisor who had authority to address the discrepancies. She called me when I was not at home where I had documentation. She said that she or her boss would call back. She also said that she would look into the validity of the billing considering they were responsible for the ER visit. Not hearing within two weeks I left a voicemail with her. Then I suddenly received notice that the bill had been sent to a collection agency.
We are sending this correspondence on behalf of EvergreenHealth in response to the complaint filed with your office on February 19, 2020.EvergreenHealth has reviewed the bill and associated care. Per the medical record, a comprehensive preventive medical reexamination was per perform and billed. Outreach was then provided to the patient by the Patient Financial Services Manager and was resolved to the patient’s satisfaction on March 19, 2020. In addition, The Patient Relations Department Manager sent a letter to the patient on March 23, 2020, as a follow up to the initial letter sent to the patient on August 27, 2018. Both letters, upon review, confirmed that the patient had appropriate care and diagnosis and was unrelated to his surgical procedure. We thank you for the opportunity to have our practices reviewed and provide the reassurance to both the patient and to you, that the patient received appropriate care and communication with the accurate charges for the healthcare services received.Sincerely,Diana Patient Relations Manager Manager Patient Financial Service

Please note that I received a reply from the business the day following my filing of the complaint. Part of the reason I had filed was that I had not been contacted from the business after inquiries. Also note that I then sent an email to the Revdex.com later the same day I spoke with the Business indicating that the issue had been resolved. It is unfortunate that the complaint was still sent to the business.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Went for annual appointment with the PCP and thought that the PCP was inquiring about overall health, body pain, etc. Only to be charged additional for diagnostics with back pain while all that was done was "talking about body pain". I have had other PCP before but never seen such overactive billing! I should have been made aware that the PCP is actually performing "additional" small talk service and that I will be charged for it!

EvergreenHealth has reviewed the bill and associated care. Per the medical record, a comprehensive preventive medical reexamination was per perform and billed. In addition, the provider discussed and evaluated a problem and provided a referral to the patient. The provider billed an evaluation and management service. The patient’s insurance processed both charges and applied $55.14 to deductible.
The provider spoke to the patient via the EvergreenHealth portal on January 30th and explained the reason for the charge.
Based on the above it was determined that the charges billed were correct.
