I attempted to book a hotel through VRBO for my son’s *** graduation on the date of October 4, 2019. Their website was having technical issues at that time, I was told on January 6th, 2020. I attempted to do what the website said 4 times, “refresh the page and try again”. After the 4th attempt, I checked my bank account and they took 4 charges out of the cost of the room, 212.98 each. I called VRBO, they had no record of any of the transactions or the booking. They said they could not help me. I then contacted the merchant, who also said they had no record of the booking. After that I contacted my bank, *** to put in a fraud claim, they temporarily credited the monies back into my account, until January 6th, 2020 when I received notification that they lost the fraud claim cause somehow VRBO had records of these bookings, which I never received. I then proceeded to contact VRBO and once again requested a refund. They partially obliged. I am receiving $591.98, however the total of the charges were 851.08. The remainder I’m told, I will be put in a spreadsheet and dealt with when their teams have time. The company owes me $291 and I would sincerely like it back. Above and beyond I would like to ensure this never happens again.
Sincerely
I booked a one night stay through *** to stay in Eugene's house from February 18th, 2018 to February 19th. Check-in was supposed to be at 3PM. When I arrived, the place had not been cleaned at all (I have videos and pictures to prove). There was garbage all over the place, dirty dishes, unmade beds, and no fresh linen. I called the owner/property manager regarding the mess that we were met with. He said the cleaning lady would come but the house was not ready until after 5PM. Additionally, there were toilet issues in both bathrooms, linens were never changed (we had to pay a $99 linen fee on top of a $199 cleaning fee), and there was no salt on the stairs to avoid people from slipping due to the snow. We came to an agreement that he would refund us half of his booking fee (which amounts to $100) to make up for the late check-in but he has yet to complete this. It has been a month since this happened.
He is now trying to make excuses as to why he will not refund us the $100. He is accusing us of leaving the house a mess, damaging the property and lighting fireworks. We have pictures, videos and texts to show that the my group and I left it in perfect conditions and that we did not light fireworks. We also have videos and pictures to show the conditions of the house prior to our arrival. He also has cameras on the property whose footage prove we did not damage the property. Additionally, we have texts directly from Eugene, video, and conversation through *** saying that he agreed to the $100 refund.
