Elegant Catering

Review: Elegant Catering was the required caterer to use for our wedding due to our venue selection. We meet a few times with Jeff Y[redacted], one of the business owners to coordinate our wedding day. Here's a list of some of our complaints:-The first estimate that they sent to us was over $3k higher than the verbal estimate provided by Jeff. -Jeff and Nancy (Jeff's sister) tried to charge us a $500 fee and told us that it was a "hidden fee" that the winery charges them for certain services, and not to say anything to the winery because they "would never admit it". -Our selected menu items were not correct 3 consecutive times.-At our tasting, we were propositioned by Jeff to join a pyramid scheme. He gave us brochures and made us watch a video. This was very unprofessional and we felt forced to participate as to keep good relations for our wedding day. -At the wedding, Jeff, the coordinator, did not show.-We had no head table, our cake was not displayed, our guestbook was not displayed, and the dance floor was not cleared as discussed.-Catering staff was to be present at the cocktail hour, however they were not.-Catering staff was to cut and set out our cake during dinner. This was not completed until later in the evening after I approached staff and questioned why guests were not receiving cake. -Catering staff was witnessed carrying take out containers at the end of the night, yet we received little to no leftover food. -Catering bartender set out a tip jar even though we already paid gratuity and it was an open bar.-Some of our guests complained to us that they were embarrassed because catering staff sat on the back of a truck behind the food area and laughed at them while they danced.-Personal items that we purchased and provided, such as linens and lanterns, were damaged and thrown in the trash.Desired Settlement: We are hereby requesting a refund in the amount of $750. This is to cover the 20% service charge that was paid to Elegant Catering, in addition to the damages of personal property, and the personal property that was not recovered from the trash.
