Economy Rent a Car

I renter a car on line on November 27, 2017, from Economy Rent A Car. My rental was from December 11 through the 17th. I paid the rental in full on line in the amount of 170.97. The rental was to be picked up at Newark Airport. The reason I went to NJ was to see my 97 yr old mother in law that was dying.
There was trouble from the time I called to be picked up at the airport by a courtesy van since they do not have a car pick up in the airport. The phone rang more than 10 times before it was picked up. The person that answered the phone I believe his name was *** was arrogant and sounded annoyed by my call.
When a young (annoyed young ) man was taking all my information at the counter he told me that he needed to put a $350.00 credit card hold on the same card that I had made my reservation with because I had an out of state license. Being a 70 yrs old on Social Security I do not have that kind of money laying around specially in an emergency. The young man told that he was going to CANCEL MY RESERVATION AND WAS GOING TO PUT A NOTE ON MY FILE NOT TO BE CHARGED THE $50.00 CANCELLATION FEE because I had showed up and I was not my fault for the cancellation. He gave me 2 email addresses. ***@rentacar.com and ***@carrentals.com
I had to call Uber to the tune of $45.00 to take me to were I was staying until the next day with the help of a friend I was able to swig the money to rent a vehicle to be able to be by my mother in law's side.
I have written several email requesting a refund and was answered that I only had 48 hours to cancel the reservation. I WAS NOT TOLD BY THE ARROGANT YOUNG MAN AT THE COUNTER THAT IT HAD TO BE DONE WITHIN 48 hrs, had I known I would have done it while I was waiting for Uber or while on my ride. ALSO THE ARROGANT YOUNG MAN TOLD ME THAT HE WAS CANCELLING THE RESERVATION. For that reason I was at ease that he had done everything that was needed for the cancellation.
I DEMAND MY $170.97 refund along with the $45.00 that I had to pay Uber since I couldn't drive myself to go to my destination.
Finally!!!! Who is going to pay me for the time I couldn't be with my dying mother in law.

Professionalism is not their forte. August 2017 on vacation Fort Lauderdale, rented a vehicle from this business. First of all service was slow, I waited an hour and half for a vehicle. Then my rental agreement wasn't accurate. The car listed on rental agreement wasn't the car I was driving. I brought error to leasing agent attention. She didn't want to do the paperwork over and I definitely didn't want to wait any longer. After dropping car back off full tank, clean car. Two months later I received an moving violation citation from the city of Miami. I was flabbergasted. The rental agreement or citation license plates didn't match. The saddest part of this whole ordeal I wasn't driving either one of the vehicle listed. The leasing agent rented me a White Nissan Altima and on rental agreement it stated U was driving a Silver Nissan Versa. Then to top things off the citation stated I was driving a Grey car Model or make was listed. I'm just applauded that management went to the traffic division and lied under oath with falsified documentations. Someone maliciously altered a rental agreement without my signature or initial which the rental agreement itself supposed to be a legal binding contract. I'm contesting the ticket and if I would've known this company isn't register with the Revdex.com. I wouldn't never rented from these people. Definitely a lesson learned.

The rates quoted online, booked and confirmed are NOT the same price they will charge you at the counter after taking a courtesy bus to them. They jack up their prices and say too bad. So I cancelled the reservation and return to the airport to rent another from another car rental company. what a pain in the nek and a waste of time. Stay away from them! Totally crooked.
