Eastern Connection Movers Reviews (22)

Moving experience to Florida.
Under the advice of one of my co-workers whom used them before we chose to have our entire household furnishings moved by Eastern Connection Movers to Ocala Florida. We contacted their client services and the moving coordinator went thru our inventory item by item and gave us our flat cost in writing. Everything was done right from the start to the delivery. They gave us a quote for $ 7500.00 for our 3 bedroom home and it was in writing just like they said. We have used movers before and had a few concerns and were skeptical in hiring another but my co-worker said he used them and the move was a seamless move so again, we booked the move. The team were courteous and careful and delivered on time and when I wanted it there in Ocala so I could start my new job there. I was very impressed with the smooth move and really liked the free auto move they did for me for my Smart car. I would highly recommend them for any Interstate or even local move . Nice job and I would use them again when I plan to move back . Wolford

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: I had accepted their offer of $for the broken door handle and the broken leg on the bureauAlthough I would have liked reimbursement for the lamp, I agreed to the amount that they offeredTheir story keeps changingWhen they broke the lamp,, the movers assured me that I would be reimbursed and they took pictures and said someone would call me They said it was their fault, that one of movers swung a mattress and hit the lampThen they told me that they couldn't reimburse me for the lamp because I didn't have a receipt, Now they are saying that I didn't pack it correctly. As I said, all I want now is the $that they offered in their e-mail dated October for the door handle and the bureau, (copy attached)

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:You have got to be kidding me with the response. We never would have agreed to drive to [redacted]. It was always agreed that they would drop it off to us. This is the first I am hearing that our property was "stolen" when they went to grab a late lunch. Was a police report file? If so, can I have a copy, if not, why? What is the "employees" name?
I had to call them to ask questions using my given name instead of the name they knew me by to get "george"/"michael" to actually return my call. I called for days and they ignored my call. When I did reach him/her, all they said was that the employee took it and they can't get in touch with them. I have recorded documentation. They never mentioned it was "stolen" from [redacted] and said nothing could be done. I asked why they would hand off property of our to a random person and they had no response.
They did send their  "claim form" to us. We had a third party return the form to them along with a letter explaining we wanted the property returned. We have a response from them to the third party. Why would they pretend/claim that we didn't return the form? We have proof. They came up with some made up reason that we didn't provide a receipt for the property the stole. It is a 50 year old plaque handed down from generations. I don't have a receipt so they reject the claim? That is not a real process. I believe it was their hollow attempt to either drag on the issue or get us to give up. We will not. Also, the claim for this doesn't make any sense which I explained to them. They moved our property. After the fact they kept merchandise unbeknownst to us and then gave it to someone else only to have it stolen - their own admission. Why do I even need to file a claim (which I did) when they acknowledge it was stolen. They have a signed document from us with their claim that has the estimated value. Pay it.
Their response does not line up with documented facts or pure reason. This is obviously a company that does not actually have any intention of working with us to resolve. If they do call us back or respond appropriately to our claim that was emailed from [redacted] esq.
Thanks for your time.

February 9, 2015Dear [redacted],
We are in receipt of your letter dated February 5, 2015 and this is our update to a check to be issued by the insurance carrier. The claim which was approved has been denied by the carrier for lack of a sufficient claim due to the fact that it was the customer's responsibility to pack the lamp that is in question and that it wasn't packed in a carton or box which is required to be done by the customer for safe travel. All our company was responsible to do was to blanket wrap furniture and shrink wrap all bedding and fabric furniture which was done by the team on the move that day. We are sorry for this however, we are under obligation to abide by our insurance carrier's rules which are laid out in the agreement and terms pages of the policy when it was issued by the company that covers us.
If we can be of further kindly call us at ###-###-####

Dear [redacted]Upon receipt of the complaint from a [redacted] here is our response. Of the enclosed is a copy of the contract both front and reverse sides of the Bill Of Lading.First, the contract was for the first 4 hours our minimum charge at $475.00 Dollars and if the time...

exceeded 4 hours the rate per each hour thereafter would be (a) $ 100.00 Dollars per each hour. No: Our company did deliver to his new office a very large desk, file cabinet and a glass top. Correct we don't accept a $300 coupon because we told him that coupon only applies to moves that are going more then 300 miles and as advertised in the large print in the coupon it says "Call our office for details" [redacted] knew in advance of the coupon limits.Yes, after talking to [redacted] at his new office before he left to go get his kids that again he needed to get a check in the amount of $ 1075.00 Dollars and this was at 8:30 Prm . [redacted] said he would be back with the funds in Money Order. At 9:45Pm our team called [redacted] and reminded him of the balance due and he said that he was only going to pay $475.00 Dollars and we said that wasn't acceptable as we needed the full amount paid or we were told to close the truck door and leave and our team told him that we are leaving now because you have refused to pay verbally the amount due and we cannot accept your business check nor can invoice you because he would have to go thru a credit approval process which can take days to finalize. Our team said thank you but we have to go and they left with his items because he failed to and was going to fail to pay the amount due for our hard earned work that day.Earlier in the day on the 19 our team thought the move was to start at 10:45 Am but found out and told [redacted] they would be back at 2 PM in which he okayed on the phone. Our team made a delivery to [redacted] and then came back to [redacted]arriving at 1:45 PM. The team was unable to get any parking close to his business because of the narrow street and no parking behind his business because low cable wires. Our crew had to park about a half of a block away they started at 2PM and discovered that [redacted] never mentioned that our crew had to take apart 3 very large executive desks (See email he sent to us enclosed for getting a quote). The team had to spend quite some time to take these gigantic desks apart. These desks had to be taken apart carefully to assure that they would not get damaged. Further, what Mr [redacted] failed to inform you in his complaint is that there was a lot more then he is telling you and a lot more than what is on the list in his email to us. His move was so bulky that it filled at 28 foot truck. Further, [redacted] fails to tell you that our team had a very long walk at the pick up location and then he has failed to inform the Revdex.com in his complaint that he was [redacted] for his monthly rent of the office and further he is in the middle of a [redacted] from his [redacted] and there is [redacted]. Upon hearing this from him personally this raised a further serious question about taking any checks from him which would been our option and take a risk of it bouncing and we decided to just stick to our policy which is written on the back of the contract under "Terms and Conditions at the bottom of the information. Finally, [redacted] had our crew go to his home to deliver 3 black leather sofas and desired for us to take 2 very large sofas and a real large arm chair down to his basement in which all ways were tried even going around the back to the basement door but the items just couldn't fit down there as the stairs were to narrow. This took a lot of time which achieved absolute nothing and wasted time and however, [redacted] insisted that we keep trying instead of accepting a professionals view of the situation at hand and he was informed by our crew that it just wasn't happening.[redacted]'s Desired outcome as he states on the complaint. Our team worked 8 hours and we are charging him for two hours travel as 1 hour from our offices to [redacted] and then from [redacted] to our offices is 1 hour travel. In regards to his claim of holding his things until he pays $ 1500.00 Dollars. We mentioned to him that we would need the current charges to be paid in which are $ 1,000.00 Dollars and then we would have to charge and additional redelivery fee of $ 620.00 dollars as our team doesn't work for free & these are the policies and procedures we have.[redacted]'s things are being held for him at our warehouse until we get paid for the services that were ordered by him but abruptly interupted by [redacted] for refusing to pay the invoice. We have had various conversations with him whom still hasn't came to pay the balance. We don;t want his things however, we need to get paid for services performed. We thank you.RegardsThe Eastern Connection Movers Team

Dear [redacted],
Thanks for contacting us in regards to [redacted] in regards to her mother's move. We have approved the claim however, the check mailed to this office had to be returned to our underwriter because of a mistake on the check itself. We will be...

in contact with [redacted] when the check arrives so it can be mailed out to her. We thank you in advance and will continue to call our underwriter as to the status of the payment.Claimant [redacted] ###-###-#### Re: ClaimBest Regards,

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Their response is filled with lies and they are not accepting responsibility for their misconduct. When I scheduled the appointment to move my business property it was at 2pm. They show up at 10:30am and said they would go to [redacted]. Their website says the coupons are valid. Nobody told me I couldn't use them. There is a complaint by other customers on [redacted] indicating they do the same scam. They bid low to get work, then make up excuses as to why they can't do the work. They never came out and inspected my property. However, I gave them a detailed list of what needed to be done. They estimated 4 hours at $475. Then $100 an hour if it went over. It makes no difference to them if it goes over because they are being paid whatever they want or they hold your property ransom. They they tack on additional fees like storage, handling fees, tolls, gas and travel time. None of these are mentioned in the contract. I never signed a contract. He claims he has my signature but will not show me because I never signed anything and he doesn't want to get in trouble for forgery. This is a total scam and they will continue to hurt hardworking people in the community like myself until something is done. There response is filled with lies and he said she said. In which case the company should have paperwork proving their claim. I had to go buy new equipment in my credit card so I can make a living. I seriously hope you review this complaint carefully so they cannot continue to hurt and rip off our community. Thank you for your time.

August 18, 2015
Dear Revdex.com,
This is in reference to complaint filed ID # [redacted] from customer [redacted] in regards to his move with our team on August the 13, 2015. I've read their complaint and wish to address it at this time.
First, The contract...

in which [redacted]'s spouse signed on 8/13/15 superseaded the "Order For Service" which called for 2 men and a truck to do the move as upon arrival by the team at their Perkasie residence a third professional was called in to do the move do to the fact that the move and items were much more then our sales representative was told by [redacted]'s spouse. Our team foreman informed [redacted] of this and that the Original estimate or minimum charge was $575.00 however, the rate per hour after the 5 hour minimum charge went from $ 100.00 per hour to $125.00 per hour as shown on the Bill Of Lading ( see copy):Second. I think that [redacted] is looking at the time incorrectly. He states that the time took 2 hours to travel from his old residence to his new residence is not correct. The actual time by Truck not by car is an hour up from Perkasie to Catasacqua. He states that he went in his car from Perkasie to Catasacqua in 35 minutes that might be true but not in a truck. In addition to the hour it took to get to Catasacqua it took our team an hour to get back to our offices and as you see on the contract the time is listed as 1 hr & 1/2 in which should have been 2 and 1/2 hours travel time. Please note that a fully loaded truck cannot make the same time in traveling as a car impossible.
Third. Our foreman did call our office so that we can rate the total time plus all other incidentals so that our office can give the total for the amount due in which was the actual time plus travel and the others as shown on the "Bill Of Lading"Our foreman kncked on the door and [redacted] told our foreman to come in and he did. He asked how she was paying and he was told Credit card and showed him the card. The foreman called it in the total to be charged was as to be charged and it was charged in accordance with the "Signed Contract Bill of Lading". Our Foreman gave the card back to her and then [redacted] came down the steps as I've been informed and she told her husband the charges and then walked outside to her car and then [redacted] got all upset and nasty with our Foreman and locking the door said to our foreman you aint going anywhere until I get a refund. He said further that I'm only paying for the minimum charge and nothing more and anything more is too bad for you!. My foreman then said to him I'm sorry sir but these are the actual hours that we worked period and further I'm a free man and I refuse to be held hostage by you against my own free will. If you have any problems with this invoice maybe you should consult your spouse as she knew exactly what she signed and to end this conversation I and my men here worked all day without any breaks not even lunch so you got your monies worth and I'm not sorry that we gave you a great move as blanket wrapped all items and even shrink wrapped your bedding and fabric furniture at no extra cost plus took your beds apart and put then back together. I am hungry and I'm opening that door and leaving have a nice day. If you had the intent not to pay or abide by the terms of the contract then why did you try to cheat me and my men out of their pay? Next time maybe you should rent a truck and move yourself out of respect. This is why we take credit cards and not checks anymore the charges are what they are and what we worked for as nothing is free in this world. We are hard working men with wives, kids, mortgages, bills and not children. Goodbye. This is exactly what happened at this particular move Mr. Revdex.com as I heard it from one of my foremen.
In closing to you sir, Our company and teams work for 60 minutes pay for 60 minutes of work and they worked really hard for this customer by denying themselves of their earned lunch and any breaks and in this case it sure looks like that the men were more robots then humans whom need a break. My team really gave this customer their all as it is our policy to do so by being transparent as we were and charging what was worked for and nothing more. This really amazes me how this [redacted] whom is the director of a major hospital would deny and breach a contract that was already entered into with our company and his spouse and if his spouse didn't want to pay anything more then the estimated time of 5 hours as our foreman told her that most likely the time would exceed the estimated hours and that if she didn't feel comfortable with that then she could have just said thanks but I will go another route to move us and have a nice day and our team would have left.
Our company thanks you for your most valuable time and kindly contact us if we can be of further.
Sincerely,
Steddon S. CEO
