Review: On Thursday, May **, 2013, I went to East End Transmissions and requested an oil/filter change on my 2008 Merceses S550. This was performed promptly while I waited and I paid my bill. I drove back to my home in New York City that same day and experienced no problems. The next morning, when driving in the city, smoke started pouring from under the car. The next morning, June *, 2013, I took my car to Manhattan Mercedes. They found the oil filler cap had been improperly replaced after the oil change by East End Transmissions and that my entire motor compartment and underside of the car (including the mufflers) were coated with oil. It required pressure washing of the engine compartment and underside of the car to remove the oil. At the time, a repeat oil change was performed. This is all documented on the Mercedes service statement of that same date.Desired Settlement: I have written to the manager of East End Transmissions twice asking only to be reimbursed for the amount I was charged by Mercedes for cleaning the oil off the engine and underside of the car: $159.95. The Mercedes service statement clearly identifies this charge as for cleaning only. I did not request payment for the repeat oil change performed by Mercedes. I feel any legitimate business should be responsible for errors that occur during the service they provide, and likely have insurance to cover such problems. East End Transmissions has not even shown me the courtesy of responding to my letters.
