Review: I rented a room in a home owned by [redacted] (owner of E.G. Rental Properties) for approximately 2 years. I gave her a security deposit of $246.25 when I first moved in. The security deposit was to be used to pay for any damages I did to the house, and, although this was not stated anywhere in the lease contract, to pay for the cleaning of my room when I moved out. In order to keep as much of my security deposit as I could, I spent several hours making my room perfectly clean the night I moved out. I left late at night on my last day and the next woman to rent my room moved in less than 24 hours later. When I got my security deposit back several months later, a total of $200.86 was deducted for 3-day rent (which I did in fact owe), "common area cleaning", "room re-cleaning", and "common area carpet cleaning." When I addressed the landlady about the cleaning charges, she stated that my refund "is what it is." She claimed that I did not leave the room clean (when I am absolutely certain it was as clean as it could have possibly gotten, and MUCH cleaner than when I moved in), and that I had to pay to clean the rest of the house and the carpet (which was also very very dirty when I moved in) several months after I had moved out. I don't agree with these charges, since I moved out months before this cleaning ever happened. I was essentially paying for the house to be cleaned of the messes my roommates had made. Also, if my old bedroom was messy, it was most likely due to the new renter who moved in the day after I moved out. I would appreciate my security deposit back, please. There was no justification for all of the money you kept from it, since I cleaned my room to perfection, the carpet was disgustingly dirty when I moved in (so why should I have to pay for it to be cleaned after I move out?), and the other 4 people living in the house were the ones who made the rest of the house dirty after I moved out. It just doesn't make any sense to have charged me for that. I owe you 3 days' rent only.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for all of the money I was charged for cleaning. This would be the entirety of my deposit minus the 3 days' rent I owed you. Thank you.
