Carmelo, the owner of Lawn Commander, is unprofessional, disrespectful and dishonest. I would not suggest doing business with him. He has very questionable business practices. I would have preferred to receive an estimate with the correct price, even if it was higher, rather than being convinced to hire him for a low bid, then having the price being increased later, just to complete the work specified in the original estimate.
My parent's backyard was overrun with live and dead vegetation and we required a very detailed and specific list of things to be done on the yard to clean it up to our satisfaction. His first estimate was very vague so I sent follow up emails, and we agreed to new estimates. After I was satisfied with the final written estimate, I authorized work.
After working for an entire day on my parent's backyard, which was the scheduled duration for the work, I found out at the end of the day that he didn't do all of the work we had agreed on. He left an entire corner of the backyard undone along with other items. He actually had the nerve to say we never asked for that part of the backyard to be worked on. It was as overgrown as the rest of the backyard so that is a very weak argument. Our final written estimate did not have anything to indicate that the work was constrained to only a portion of the backyard.
We pushed him to finish the work insisting we had estimates to prove it. He stood outside of our property for one and a half hours arguing and harassing us to pay the entire total on the estimate even though he didn't do all of the work. He wouldn't do the corner unless we gave him extra money.
I've never met someone with such questionable business practices.
