Notified in April by the company that the trip in August would not be taken place. I asked for a refund on the $2700 for trip. At time I was told to fill out the refund form and that they would get back to me. In June, I was notify that no money would be returned, due to the company didn't have the resources and the money had already been spent. To this date Sept 9, not one cent has been returned and no comment from the company has been received.
Hi ***,I wish you had reached out to us before going to submit a complaint to the Revdex.com. We do not have any record of you reaching out to us by phone, email, or text message on 9/8/2020 or 9/2/2020 per your complaint. You can reach me directly at , [email protected], or [email protected] are working hard to come to a resolution to this situation for all of our cancelled travelers and offered several options in light of this unprecedented situation. We received your preference and provided an email update 2 weeks later. As we mentioned previously, Down Under Sports cannot refund monies to cancelled travelers unless and until normal operations resume. It will likely take years for the US and the world to recover from the enormous economic impact of COVID-19. Our small, family business is no exception to that and we appreciate everyone that has been understanding of the devastating effect that this has had on our staff and company. A further email update is being sent to our cancelled travelers today, 9/15/2020.Thank you for your patience and understanding.
My daughter was invited to go. I was told to get insurance which will help me to get refunds if anything go wrong. I did get the insurance for my husband and daughter. My husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness and can't make the trip. We asked if we can get a refund of $600 they said no. We thought we have 71-95 days to cancel before trip. The trip isn't until July 2020. I really need this money back. This was money saved. They have false advertising and the told me with the insurance that I can cancel anytime to get a refund. This company isn't right and my husband don't want his 15 year daughter to go to a country alone with all that's going on. Please help. They lied about the insurance.
Refund policy is ridiculous. Refund policy states you’ve to request a refund 71-95 days before departure date. Anything can happen within 3 months. Down Under Sports is immoral with having this policy of requesting cancellation within 71-95 to receive your cash back. Otherwise they’ll keep your hard earn money.
On the front page of the website in the bottom corner is the link to our refund policy. https://downundersports.com/refunds
I would like to note that the person that filed this complaint isn't on the account she is complaining about.
The traveler and his mother were aware of the refund policy when they made their initial deposit on February 27th 2019. As the refund policy clearly states once the athlete is within 90 days of travel certain moneys are non-refundable. As we have had employees who have worked on this travelers trip. These employees are compensated for their work like any other business. There are costs associated with operating the business.
This traveler chose to cancel his trip on May 31, 2019 his date of departure was to be July 7, 2019 this was 37 days before departure which according to our policy is within 45 days of travel and therefore none of the travel costs are refundable. This is common practice in the travel industry.
In addition I have attached for the Revdex.com's convenience the statement of the traveler so they can see the amounts that could have been kept. If there is any other information you would like I would be happy to provide it.
My daughter was invited by this group to run in Australia in the summer of 2018. We paid the down payment required plus $75.70 that she had raised. My daughter injured herself (tore her ACL) within 3 weeks of paying the payment and now physically cannot compete in their competition. We were honest with the company and asked that the money that we had raised in good faith from our friends be returned to us to pay back the people who paid in good faith and are being told it is non refundable. I would understand if my daughter was not hurt and just changed her mind. But she medically cannot go now and I would have thought this would have been taken into consideration before telling us that we would not be refunded the $300 deposit our town donated in good faith. All we want back is everything we put into it.
Your $75.70 has been refunded; however, the deposit is non-refundable/non-transferable. We understand that injuries are always a possibility which is why we encourage all of our participants to purchase the travel/medical insurance that we offer. If you can provide written documentation from your daughter’s doctor and a list of the people in your town that have donated, we can review your situation.
Sincerely,
J. *** P
