Stay away from this company
My pool liner just got a hole in it, it’s One year old! After having me send pictures they quickly said it wasn’t covered ? they said it was caused by bugs or rough ground under neath based on the pictures I sent. ? without coming out to see it. I spent several thousand dollars on this pool cover. my last cover lasted more than 10 years.Their covers are not good quality, we could tell it was lower quality upon installation be never expected a hole after only one year. It’s no where near as thick or strong as my last cover, and they have very poor attitudes with their customers. Horrible experience. Hope this helps someone else from wasting money on their products

I do not recommend Dover Vinyl Liners. We spent over $4,000 to replace our 12 year old M liner with a new Dover 28MIL liner in May 2019. My installer recommended Dover over M, so we went with his recommendation, and even paid $200 more than the quote for M. After installation it looked really nice, however, the bottom of the deep end began to fade in less than 5 months!!! I took pictures which clearly show the fading of the bottom only in the deep end and wrote them to ask about the warranty. They quickly responded that their warranty does not cover fading, it only covers the seams, and that they would pass on my pictures to the manufacturer of the vinyl sheeting. I have not heard anything from anyone else.
They also told me about chemical imbalance but come on, the fading is limited to just one area of the liner after only 5 months! All vinyl liners fade over time, I understand that, but it should be gradual and faded throughout the entire liner, mine only faded in one area so it is really noticeable. $4k for a brand new liner, that looks like crap now! Thanks a lot Dover!
Stay away from these guys, I wish that I would have gone with M, like my original liner that lasted 12 years and didn't start fading until after 5 years.

We had a pool installed with a Dover vinyl liner early in 2002. The summer of 2010 we noticed a pin hole in the corner of the pool which enlarged over time. It was temporarily patched by offshore pools. We closed the pool with the patch on it. Offshore pools sent us to Dover Vinyl pools to deal with the issue and they installed a new liner the following year, which was prorated. Right after the installation, the pool was losing water and offshore came out and patched a seam by the steps. We opened the pool this year in May 2018. In July, we noticed the same thing occurring in the exact same spot previously. Within days, what started as a little hole grew into a big slit. We called Dover Vinyl Liners and they said that it was not a warranty issue and not covered. We called back and asked to speak with the manager, but only got Stephen. We sent pictures of the hole which had now grown much larger and explained it was in the same spot as last time. He said the manager would be out July 9 or 10. He never came. We went on vacation from July 11-15 and called back numerous times upon our return, only to get excuses. Stephen said the manager was going to come out the week of July 20 and he never showed. We have a very hard time understanding that we are dealing with the same company that addressed our issues the first time. We were completely satisfied with their customer service previously. We also stated to them that we had to have the pool liner repaired “on a seam” right after the liner was installed the last time. We did not want to go through the entire process of having the pool emptied, the liner taken out and replaced, if the patch was working. The pool right now is losing water. The patch in the corner is above the water line. The patch that was put on the seam, right after it was installed, is started to peel away and no longer holding. We have paperwork to verify all our dates.

According to *** the original liner was installed in 2002. On 3/11/11 Offshore Pools contacted us advising there was dry rot in the corners of the liner. On 3/21/11 we inspected the liner and concurred that the damage was the result of dry rot. Dry rot occurs when the liner is exposed to constant extremes of hot and cold. The vinyl material contracts slightly when it gets cold (such as at night) and expands slightly when it gets hot. Our inspection revealed that this area of the pool gets significant hours of direct sunlight on a daily basis. Over time this contraction and expansion weakens the vinyl material which can cause holes or tears in the liner. Our pro-rated warranty only covers seam separations. This information is clearly spelled out on the warranty card shipped with every completed liner and is also available on our website. (www.dovervinyl.com) This type of warranty is standard in our industry. *** did not claim in 2011 that the failure of the liner from 2002 was from a seam failure. Despite the damage to the liner not being covered by our warranty, we agreed to provide a pro-rated replacement for *** as an accommodation. *** agreed to a pro-rated replacement and a new liner (2011) was manufactured. In his Revdex.com complaint, *** stated that the 2011 liner had a split seam in the step at the time of installation. We have no record of this issue. *** would most certainly been entitled to a replacement liner for a seam failure at that time. However according to his Revdex.com complaint, *** chose to accept a patch of the seam by the installer rather than make a warranty claim at that time. 7 years later *** contacted us about damage to the 2011 liner. The photos sent to us by *** confirm a tear at the top of the liner not in a seam which we deemed to be the result of dry rot. We [again] explained that our pro-rated warranty does not cover dry rot and denied his claim. No mention was made of a failure of a seam. We sent our technician to inspect the pool on July 31, 2018. At that time *** advised that the seam patch from 2011 was failing. We concurred and though the dry rot is not warrantable the seam failure is. We have agreed to provide a pro-rated replacement liner taking into account the 7 years the liner was used without complaint. Water and installation costs are not covered. New measurements must be submitted prior to manufacture.

Had our liner replaced 5 years ago and at the same time had our pool converted to salt water. Salt water is supposed to be much better for vinyl liner life. Nonetheless, the liner is badly faded everywhere at only 5 years old. Got a bunch of excuses from Dover about chemical damage even though they did agree to prorate a new liner at 55 percent. 55 percent for a 20 year warranty seems a bit thin in my estimation. Furthermore, they never even sent anyone out to look at it. They acted as though they were doing me a favor. Terrible. Makes me wonder why my "former" pool maintenance company uses them. BUYER BEWARE OF THEIR PRODUCTS! 20 years is really 5 in their book.

A copy of our warranty is available on our website at www.dovervinyl.com. It provides for a free placement liner within the first 2 years for any seam separation. Thereafter it provides for a prorated replacement program based on a sliding percentage according to the age of the liner. Our warranty does not cover material defects and/or fading of the vinyl material because we do not manufacture the vinyl sheeting material used in our operation; and we cannot control the chemical balance of the pool water over the life of a liner. This type of warranty is standard in our industry. The author above does not provide any support for the remark that “Salt water is supposed to be much better for vinyl liner life.” The following articles warn about the danger of using salt water generators in pools.
http://www.doityourself.com/stry/the-great-pool-debate-salt-water-vs-chlorine, http://www.mcewenindustries.com/blog/what-are-the-effects-of-salt-water-chlorine-generation-systems-on-vinyl-pool-liners-and-swimming-pools/,
http://www.swimmingpool.com/blogs/risks-saltwater-pools-every-pool-owner-needs-know.
All of these articles point out the following: (1) the type of chlorine being generated in a salt water generated environment (SWGE) does not contain a characteristically chlorinated smell; and (2) the lack of knowledge regarding pool water chemical testing in SWGE can lead to an increase in pH, “scale” (calcium) and over chlorination of the pool water. Chemical imbalance in SWGE can cause damage and decrease the life expectancy of pool components, including pool liners. SWGE are not “set it and forget it,” and it is up to the SWGE User to ensure that the water is properly balanced at all times. SWGE require significant regular care and testing to properly maintain the chemical balance of the pool water. In many cases even more care is required because of the lack of telltale signs indicating over chlorination of the pool water.
This liner was used for a period of 5 years. As stated, we have no way to control use and care of our products once they leave our manufacturing facility; including how chemicals are being maintained in the pool and what type of exposure there is to the elements, year-round. A copy of our warranty was included in the materials shipped with the manufactured liner and is available on our website. We agreed to prorate a new liner for this customer as an accommodation despite the clear exclusion under our warranty. The prorated liner was offered at the same terms that we offer to any of our liner end users who have used their liner for 5 years, and again is standard in our industry. We are willing to bear 45% of the cost to manufacture a new liner. We would also be happy to provide the name of the manufacturer of the vinyl sheeting material used to make this liner to get their determination as to the cause of the fading and/or what, if any, accommodation they may offer.
We have been in business since 1965 and have made many thousands of vinyl liners during that time. We have an impeccable reputation within our business community for making quality custom vinyl swimming pool liners, evidenced and supported by the sheer volume of liners we produce every year. We could not have stayed in business this long if we produced an inferior unreliable product. In fact, we have thousands of satisfied distributors, dealers, homeowners/end users of our products who insist on Dover Liners when deciding to purchase a new pool liner.
