This complaint is about how a rental deposit was handled. I moved out of the house on February 11, 2013. I completed commercial carpet cleaning as was required by lease. Washed walls, baseboards and window sills, as was requested. Cleaned the oven, bathrooms and laundry room. When I asked in late March about receiving my deposit, after refusing to answer the phone when I called ( but answered it a minute later when I used another phone), I was told that the house was filthy and the carpets needed to be cleaned again due to pet odor smell. The manager was rude on the phone, and in not so many words told me that when she was good and ready I would get information from them. I waited another week and a half of not having my calls being answered, then called the owner of D & L Investments who is a realtor. I was told that I would get a phone call on April 1st. I received no phone call from the manager on the 1st. I received information on the items that were done. This information showed that they cleaned the carpet 2 more times and brought in a cleaning person who indicated that she spent 40 hours cleaning. The documentation indicated that she recleaned items that I had previously cleaned. Indicated items cleaned that had never requested to be cleaned by the lease agreement (outlet covers removed). The information provided they spent 1328.31 recleaning, my deposit was $1100.00. From the looks of the invoices and documentation, they look to be less from less than professional sources. If cleaning of the carpet needed to be done, I certainly would have taken on the task myself, or have been happy to have been called and asked to talk to the cleaners myself. It appears to me that there never was any intention of giving back any of the deposit. And I'm sure if you ask other p-eople who have rented from D & L Investment that they were treated as rudely as I was and also received no deposite either.
