Review: At 7:53 a.m. on June 4, 2014 (according to my cell phone records), I called District Locksmith to have two locks changed at a rental property. They said the locksmith would be in touch with me shortly. Sure enough, at 8:01 a.m., the locksmith returned my call, and he came to the property within the next two hours and completed the work. He charged $323 to change the locks, using an inexpensive Kwikset product (model 400T). According to District Locksmith's website (http://district-locksmith.com/), a standard residential lock change starts at $45, depending on the security level of the locks. The website also provides that the phone representative will provide a more accurate estimate. When I told the phone representative what work I needed to have done, she never indicated that the cost would be substantially more than what was listed on the website. After I discovered that we had been charged $323, I called District Locksmith to express my disappointment at their bait-and-switch tactics. They claimed to have no record of having serviced my property. But I called no other company, so the locksmith who arrived had been dispatched by them. They said there was nothing further they could do to help me. I believe that District Locksmith is falsely advertising that the prices listed on its web site are "the average cost per service for most services requested."Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the overcharge.
