I had the worst experience with this company. We rented a house with this company, and it slept 12, but we were only able to have "6" people in the house at one time. We rented this house because we wanted to park our pontoon boat at the dock on the canal. We called and talked to the staff and this was the only house we were told would be appropriate. When we attempted to park our boat there, we realized that they had not dredge out the area at the boat dock for many years. Our boat was completely stuck other than at extremely high tide. We were unable to take the boat out when we wanted to. It could really only go out at either 8am or 9pm, which are very obviously the worst times to take out a boat at Christmas break. Seeing as how the owner lives directly next door, they obviously knew the limitations of the boat dock at this house. They falsely rented the house to my family for almost $4k even though they knew that it wouldn't meet our needs.
Future rental customers need to know that this company is willing to falsely advertise their rentals and then behave in the most negative manner to their customers because they have already gotten their money.
I have never been treated so rudely as this company when spending this amount of money. We only wished to have a family celebration of 8, six of which were older than 38, in a home that we rented for $4,000, and utilized the boat dock that we specially asked for to use, and were supremely disappointed. They threatened to evict my family because we had 8 people instead of the 6 that were allowed. I have never felt so bad about having spent money on something as I did on renting this house. We could have rented from VRBO as my parents did and never had this aggravation. I've rented from many hotels and never had these kind of false advertising issues as this house. I only wish for future customers to fully understand the issues with this opportunistic and shady company.
Thank you for your review. The home you rented has an occupancy and sleeping limit of 6 persons (there are only 3 beds in the home (2 king and 1 queen bed and no sleeper sofas). The fire department here on Fort Myers Beach sets our occupancy limits based on State fire code. The contract you signed with us clearly stated (and you initialed beside this) that you were only allowed 6 persons maximum on the property during your stay at any one time. When you were questioned as to how many people were at the house, and the fact that a dog was there even though this home is a pet free home (and again you signed off on the fact that no pets were to be on the property) you became very defensive and argumentative. I nicely pointed out to you the plaque hanging on the wall by the front door from the fire department showing the occupancy limit and also showed you the contract you signed with us with your signature and initials. I understand fully that you were embarrassed that you had invited guests over and now had to ask them to leave. We do not set the rules for our homes when it comes to occupancy, the Town of Fort Myers Beach and Fort Myers Beach Fire Department does that. However, we do have to enforce them otherwise we are subject to loosing our license with the Town to rent.
As for the boat dock, every boat's draft is different and as you noticed almost every neighbor has a boat on that canal. Some of the neighbors have to wait for higher tides to navigate the canal while others can come and go at low tide. It just all depends on the boat you have. We have no way of knowing what type of boat you were renting/bringing and if it would work only at higher tides or anytime. We are sorry that you encountered this issue in the canal. Unfortunately the depth of the canal is something completely out of our control.
I specifically called and talked to the operators at your company mulitple times. I sent emails with very specific requirements. I was very clear about the type of boat we were bringing and your employees ensured me the boat would fit. In fact this was the only house on fort myers beach island with your company that they said our boat would fit at. I booked 14 months ahead to ensure the property would fit our needs.
I went back and reread the desctiption of the property. It VERY CLEARLY says "The formal dining room seats 8 comfortably". Why would you state that and only allow 6 people on the property at all times? I would understand if the FIRE DEPARTMENT stated that you couldn't have more than 6 people sleeping on the property or spending an unreasonable amount of time at any one time. Having a dining room table that comfortably sits 8 seems ironic for only 6 people to eat at.
When I called and booked this property, I was very clear that we were coming down with my family and looking forward to seeing them. At no time in these multiple conversations did your employee state that I would not be able to have family or friends over for dinner.
Your property description and employees are falsely advertising your properties. If I was a lawyer, I would sue for false advertisement, but luckily for you I don't have one in the family. Even if your contract is "iron clad", it was still false advertising in what you were advertising. Don't worry thought, we will never rent from here again, and I will continue to make sure my reviews are heard so that others know what they are getting into. No one else should ever have to have such a bad New Year's Eve.
By the way, I was not embarrassed. I was happy to explain what was happening, and my entire family shared the outrage. My aunt was so angry when talking directly to you that she had to walk away from you. Why would I be embarrassed by your false advertising.
Didn't refund us for the correct number of nights. They gave us a verbal agreement because of a plumbing issue for remaining nights.
Agreed to rent the property at *** from Dec 24- Dec 31st. Reservation number *** Total Charges, $5,443.4.
No internet, no cable, and no towels, limited laundry. Ants all over both kitchens. Porches rotted out. Black mold around pool.
12/27/19 Plumbing backed up in upstairs bathroom. 2" of sewage in the bathroom and hallway. Dripped down to the lower lever.
Father cleaned up the water to help with the damage. Plumber came over. We asked to get out of agreement, they said they would refund the remaining nights, verbal agreement made by Kory. We had not planned to leave that day so we had nothing packed up. As soon as they would reimburse us for the remaining days we decided to leave and packed up. We were all gone by the afternoon. My parents were there just waiting for their friends to come with a truck to pick up the bikes. Which I told Kory about and she said that was fine. Meanwhile they still hadn't fix the plumbing, so they couldn't have rented it out.
If it was a hotel they would have reimbursed us for the night of the plumbing issue if not more. I was just asking for the remaining nights of the contract!! Which they agreed on. When I received the refund check in the mail it was short a night, plus no reduction in cleaning fees. To be honest they should refund the entire amount. They are going to say it's because it was past the check out time. When they made the verbal agreement it was already past the check out time. Bad business.
Looking for them to refund the night of Dec 28. Which they verbally agreed too.
The night of the 28th was not refunded as the guest did not check out immediately upon requesting to leave and being informed they would receive a refund. Instead of leaving immediately as instructed, the guest stayed until 5:47 pm. When we went to check on the house mid afternoon on the 28th we found a group of them riding their bikes down the road and others walking back from the beach in their bathing suits. They made no attempt to leave earlier but enjoyed the day at the beach. The sewage issue they had encountered the night before had been completely repaired and the house was 100% habitable even though the guests wished to depart. No additional refund will be given beyond what was already paid to them.
