Dij Properties

On May 15, 2019 I applied for an apartment at Copper Creek Apartments which is managed by DIJ Properties. I paid $473.83 to move in on Saturday May 18, 2019. I began to move in at approximately 5:30pm on May 18th and the office closed at 6pm for the weekend. As I began to put things away I started to see roaches in different areas of the apartment. I immediately texted Aracely the leasing agent and she said that pest control would come by the following week. As the evening went on I saw more and more roaches and I knew I could not stay in this apartment. I called DIJ corporate offices that night, May 18, 2019 at around 11:30 to alert them of the issue and texted the leasing agent to let her know that I would not be staying in that apartment. The leasing office was closed until Monday May 19,2019 and I turned the keys in on May 21, 2019. DIJ properties refused to refund any of my money and also charged $1660 for breaking the lease. I did not pay the $1660 due to roach infestation and the unit being uninhabitable and it has now gone to collections. I sent the leasing agent and DIJ properties corporate office pictures and video of the roaches and they refused to give any money back or remove this charge. Because of this, I was forced to pay $200 to stay with a friend and $350 in move in fees for a new apartment.
