Dietrich's Karate Studio

Review: On Dec. 1,2012 my husband and I signed a contract with Dietrich Karate. We weren't given a copy of this contract until several weeks after we had signed. We were under the understanding that Dietrich held this contract. It wasn't until the summer of 2013 that we found out that Dietrich had sold our contract to a collection agency, [redacted], in [redacted], MO. If we had known before signing the contract that it would be sold to a collection agency we would have never signed the contract, at least not one for five years. When my husband was furloughed last year I contacted [redacted] to see about getting out of this contract. I was told the only way out of this contract is death or if we moved out of the service area. Also, on the Dietrich contract there is no mention of [redacted] anywhere. Master Dietrich neglected to mention he sells his contracts to a collection agency when we signed the contract. We approached the owner of Dietrich's Karate, Master Dietrich, to see if we could sell our contract to another client. Master Dietrich told us if we could get 4 more students to sign he would buy out our contract. He wants our child to continue with his Karate program. After all that has happened I do not wish to continue using his services. And I do not feel comfortable approaching other parents to sign up for his services and leave them in the same position we are in. Our child needs to have tutors to help him with his school work and we cannot afford to pay for karate and a tutor. We have tried a couple of times to work with Master Dietrich regarding our contract with his business to no avail. It is my hope to spare another parent from going through what we are going through.Desired Settlement: We require that Master Dietrich provide us with an avenue of selling our contract to a potential new or existing client.
