I, and several members of my family, received gift cards from Dickey's Barbecue Pit for Christmas. Since that day we have attempted to use the cards multiple times without success. We are told that they couldn't process the cards 'at that time' every time we tried to use them. I called again today with the same response. It has been two months and we've been patient but patience is running thin and we either want the food or the money returned.
At the end of December I was in the store and wanted ribs for New Year's. When told I couldn't use the card I asked to surrender the card in exchange for the food and they could cancel the card out later. They refused. I tried, without success, to contact the owner immediately after the interaction with the waitress. She had spoken to him and told him I would be calling. No answer and no opportunity to leave a message. I wonder if this is a scam because they will accept a credit card which sounds like a bait and switch scam to me. Please help.
Other (requires explanation) The business needs to either refund the gift card amount for all the cards in our family or accept the cards and give us the food we are due.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Dickey's accused me of "publishing false accusations in an attempt to defame, discredit and damage the business for reasons unknown other than to be malicious." That is untrue. The business failed to make their gift card process work from at least the time our family received gift cards at Christmas until only approximately "a week and a half ago" as we were told today, March 10, 2020. That is shortly after I contacted both the Attorney General's office and sent my complaint to your Bureau. I simply pointed out what was happening at that business.
I get many scam calls and did not answer the call Mr. T made for two reasons, I was driving and didn't recognize the number. I didn't see any voice message.
I don't feel a customer should have to jump through hoops to use a gift card. There were five gift cards that were unusable in the time frame from Christmas to the time I filed the complaints. You will notice the only receipts provided by the business were dated March 2nd, a long time from December.
I accept their answer only because a call made today told us the gift cards were now being honored. The businesses actions or lack thereof will be the reason people go elsewhere not by my legitimate complaints.
