I contacted Rachel at Desert Hills Heating & Cooling with a request for quote. She promptly replied with a quote that matched exactly what I needed in order to replace my old heat pump unit. I specified a 3 Ton 16 SEER Goodman Packaged Heat Pump System. After contacting a number of other heating and cooling contractors, some of which were very difficult to deal with, my gut told me to go with Desert Hills. Paul came out 6 days before the job was to be completed, to take the measurements for the new elbow and stand. He was here on time and a real pleasure to speak with.
June 7th, 2019, Paul and his coworker showed up almost an hour and a half ahead of schedule, to remove the old heat pump, install the new elbow, and have everything ready for when the crane truck arrived. Even the crane truck arrived ahead of schedule, and had the new Goodman packaged heat pump up on my roof and had removed my old heat pump, all completed by 11:00 PM, when the crane truck was scheduled to arrive. After completing the installation, I am happy to report that my New Goodman, 16 SEER packaged heat pump system, is performant flawlessly.
Desert Hills Heating & Cooling has not been in service as long as some of the other heating and cooling contractors I contacted but they more than make up for it with their high level of service. I was actually disappointed at many of the complaints I found for those other contractors, and some of them charged very high prices for the same equipment. As for Desert Hills Heating & Cooing, the quality of their work is professional grade, their pricing was excellent, and their service and the way they treated me was excellent. I highly recommend them, and that's coming from someone who has HVAC experience and also family in the HVAC business.
Sincerely,
***.

Heat pump install contract to begin & end 04 Sep 2018. Job abandoned 22 Sep 2018.
On 06 Sep 2018, two days after install begin & end date, installer Paul arrived 40 minutes late with dented (LARGE dent) unit. Returned three hours later with another unit. Paul & two helpers dragged my new unit into place across my rocks & patio concrete, chipping the concrete. Working hastily, I was informed he had service calls to make and had to be somewhere at 1630 hours. After making the unit operable, though with multiple issues/items that had not been addressed and needed to be re-done, I paid $2500 with VISA, including the required 3% transaction fee.
An old junk adapter was installed, that doesn't fit, resulting in numerous air leaks that could not be patched with mastic tape. Liberal use of mastic ("pookie") inside & outside supply & return airways to cover rust and corrosion on old adapter, and in an attempt to attach 12" flex duct to 14" collars on old adapter. Odor of mastic is still obvious, 29 Sep 2018.
21 Sep 2018 I discovered my 12" flex duct disconnected from 14" collar. I reconnected the best I could but am still trying to cool the state of Arizona due to leaks from an adapter made for a very old unit. Condensate line should be level but runs downhill, resulting in water leaking from the corner of the unit because the unit is not level. Raquel *** has twice informed me I need to hire another contractor to remove my unit and install a new one so she can pick up her unit within two weeks.
In addition to the aforementioned, mastic tape used in lieu of sheet metal to fill gaps, pookie used as "Bondo" filler, mastic spread over large portions of unit for unknown reason, non-weather-tight connections on disconnect box, and a "mastic party" evidenced by pookie on intake grill, the LiquidTite conduit, the thermostat wire, the evaporative cooler support, the patio, on the ground & on top of MY NEW UNIT. Paul has been here four times. His boss has not visited the job site.
Desert Hills Heating & Cooling LLC arrived at *** property on
September 6,2018 located at *** to install a 3.5 ton ac unit ***1,thermostat,disconnect box, condensation line, electrical whip, thermostat wire, (other work) sheet metal cover, seal ductwork removal and disposal of used equipment run unit test, clean work area. When Paul was going to install the sheet metal cover *** refused it and said he did not like it. I told Paul we will order another cover we wanted *** to be happy. *** decided not to pay the full amount only a partial payment until we went back and installed the sheet metal cover the brand new ac unit that was installed was up and running and cooling his home.when Paul arrived at his property on September 10th to install the second sheet metal cover *** told Paul he wanted new adapters square to round and did not allow Paul again to install the sheet metal cover Paul left his property we went ahead and ordered the adapters from Goodman that they recommended for *** unit again we wanted *** to be happy.Paul went back to his property September 17,2018 with the adapters we purchased from Goodman and the sheet metal cover again he refused it and the adapters and said they were the wrong adapters even tho Goodman recommended them for his unit. He emailed me many different links of the adapters he wanted I still went ahead and ordered another set of adapters from the info he provided.I wanted *** to be happy! *** then called me and said Paul the (cave man)or the other two (clowns)workers were not allowed back on his property or he would call the sheriff. *** also said over the phone he cleaned the ac unit with lighter fluid in an attempt to remove the mastic and buffed the unit with wax I did not know what else he was doing to our ac unit I was very concerned that he would do this.*** also emailed me saying the unit was making loud noises that we dragged the unit back and forth to his property even tho Paul and workers used a dolly to transport the unit he also mentioned in the email that the unit needed to be replaced. I was going to hire King Mechanical to install the adapters and sheet metal cover because he did not allow any of my workers back on his property but after many conversations I had with *** I felt like if I hired king Mechanical he would not be happy. I was scheduled to be at his property on September 23,2018 to take pictures and look at the installation but I did not feel safe going to his property.I emailed him to hire another company to install another ac unit for him and to let me know when I could go back and pick up our ac unit and that after I picked up our unit I would reimburse him what he had paid. I tried many times to get this resolved but he would not allow it.
*** filed a complaint with the Roc# *** we were scheduled for a inspection of the equipment on October 22,2018 at 1pm When Randy N,Paul and myself Raquel arrived at *** property he refused to let the inspector do an inspection. Told us to get off his property Randy told *** that he was with the ROC and that he was there for the 1pm inspection *** again said to get of his property.Randy again said I will close the case and *** said he did not care to get off his property. As of October 29,2018 *** Cox has not allowed and has refused for us to pick up our equipment that we installed at his property so we can issue him a refund. He also refuses to pay the balance owed on the agreement since he plans to keep the unit. *** does not want to pay the balance owed and he plans on keeping the ac unit because he does not allow us back on his property. I do not think its fair nor right that he filed a dispute with his bank because he will not pay the balance that is still owed on the agreement or allow us Desert Hills Heating & Cooling LLC to pick up our ac unit that we installed at his property since he is not happy so we can issue him a refund. Thank you, Raquel
