Dependable Closets

I am filing a complaint against Dependable Closets / Jon S. Mr. S agreed to install 9 closets in my house during the week of December 23rd 2019, which they did not do. The delivery date and installation time frame for these closets were critical in our initial discussions and negotiations. I signed a contract with Jon S on December 4th for the closet installation. From the date of signing our contract to the eventual date of my canceling our contract on December 30th it was extremely difficult to get in contact with Jon S Eventually when I did get in contact with Jon S he said his guys would be installing the closets on Monday December 23rd and that he would be going to Florida on the 24th. On Monday neither him or his "guys" showed up at the house to do the install. From the 23rd to December 29th I was unable to get in contact with Jon S to get an update as too when the installation would be completed.

During this time I started to research Jon S Company Dependable Closets and learned he had an expired NJ Division of Consumer Affairs Contractors license. I also looked into our contract and realized it was in violation of a number of provisions of both the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, N.J.S.A. 56:8-1 et seq. and the Home Improvement Practice Regulations found in the New Jersey Administrative Code at N.J.A.C. 13:45A-16.1 et seq,. Specifically, the signed contract failed to include a start and end date in the contract and the work did not commence in a timely manner. After numerous attempts to contact Jon Stuart; 4 Text Messages, 8 phone calls, 5 voicemails and 2 emails I was forced to find a new company to do the installation.

I have not received my initial deposit back and I have been unable to reach Jon S to try and find a reasonable solution to fix this issue.
