Hi ***, Below is a response to Ms [redacted] complaint: A little background, I had worked for her years ago She called us back to paint her house again Upon writing up her contract and assessing work to be done, it appeared she had minimal wood repair that I could see which I included in the bid Unfortunately upon commencing with work, my men uncovered significant termite damage I charged her my cost for replacing the rotten wood and there was no way we could've known about this damage due to it being under the paint"Contract reflects [redacted] ***., which has expired per CA.gov siteNo other license number was providedOwner required payment checks to be made out to her personally ( [redacted] ), not the company." If I inadvertently gave her a contract from a former corporation I used to have, I sincerely apologize for the oversight, I am indeed licensed # [redacted] In addition, once the job had been started, the owner required me to pay an additional $(above contract price of $4,500), or she would not finish the jobFinally, I was forced to pay $1,up front to cover the costs of the paint to be usedHowever, the Painter told me he only spent $for paint (Four gallon cans were used, plus gallon for small doors)At no point did I ever imply or directly say that I would not finish the job for any reason The up front costs, according to our painter may have been for paint, however the material costs were for wood, paint, primer as well as all the other material needed to complete the work in her contract We also didn't charge her for 60ft of the wood There was over 100ft of wood to replace in addition to the 60ft that we gave her free of chargeI've been a licensed contract for years and I certainly wouldn't be in business this long if I took any of the actions she claims I didBest Regards, [redacted] CSLB Lic# [redacted]

Hi [redacted],
Below is a response to Ms. [redacted] complaint:
A little background, I had worked for her 15 years ago. She called us back to paint her...
house again. Upon writing up her contract and assessing work to be done, it appeared she had minimal wood repair that I could see which I included in the bid. Unfortunately upon commencing with work, my men uncovered significant termite damage. I charged her my cost for replacing the rotten wood and there was no way we could've known about this damage due to it being under the paint.
"Contract reflects [redacted]., which has expired per CA.gov site. No other license number was provided. Owner required payment checks to be made out to her personally ([redacted]), not the company."
If I inadvertently gave her a contract from a former corporation I used to have, I sincerely apologize for the oversight, I am indeed licensed #[redacted].
In addition, once the job had been started, the owner required me to pay an additional $450 (above contract price of $4,500), or she would not finish the job. Finally, I was forced to pay $1,500 up front to cover the costs of the paint to be used. However, the Painter told me he only spent $500 for paint (Four 5 gallon cans were used, plus 1 gallon for small doors).
At no point did I ever imply or directly say that I would not finish the job for any reason. The up front costs, according to our painter may have been for paint, however the material costs were for wood, paint, primer as well as all the other material needed to complete the work in her contract. We also didn't charge her for 60ft of the wood. There was over 100ft of wood to replace in addition to the 60ft that we gave her free of charge.
I've been a licensed contract for 26 years and I certainly wouldn't be in business this long if I took any of the actions she claims I did.
Best Regards,

Review: Contract reflects License #[redacted] for [redacted] Co. Inc., which has expired per CA.gov site. No other license number was provided. Owner required payment checks to be made out to her personally ([redacted]), not the company. In addition, once the job had been started, the owner required me to pay an additional $450 (above contract price of $4,500), or she would not finish the job. Finally, I was forced to pay $1,500 up front to cover the costs of the paint to be used. However, the Painter told me he only spent $500 for paint (Four 5 gallon cans were used, plus 1 gallon for small doors).Desired Settlement: 1.) If owner/company is licensed, should be forced to use a Contract that gives proper license information. If owner/company is not licensed, State should take appropriate action.
2.) Want $450 refunded, not my fault if owner (who did the inspection), under estimated the work costs.
3.) Want $1,000 refunded for over charging for paint.
