Deck & Fence Co

We reviewed three bids and eventually went with Deck and Fence Co, NOT because they were the least expensive, but we had a good initial meeting with the owner. However when our vinyl three-stile fence was installed this summer by a motley crew of employees, we were very disappointed. The job was supposed to take three to four days, but wound-up taking two weeks. The crew tried to cut corners on the job, by installing the metal wire over the posts instead of cutting them in between as required. The reason was they wanted to save some time. They asked my husband first, and then asked me later. Fortunately, we both said no.
The crew wore ripped jeans and dirty t-shirts (no company logo), left cigarette butts on the driveway and in the yard, and spent a lot time on breaks. They ran out of materials, which we had to go buy ourselves to finish the job. They didn't show up some days (excuses included: being evicted from an apartment, the truck didn't start, and they had to pick up a buddy at the bus stop to bring him to the job), and were late for others.
We contacted the owner several times during the week, but he never returned our calls or emails. Afterwards, we found out he was 'testing' this crew to see if he wanted to hire them. After he finally called us after about a month (looking for payment), we expressed our disappointment with the job. He promised to rebate us some funds... we are still waiting. Would definitely not recommend.
