I was referred to D.E.A.R. Networking & Computer Repair from my brother and his girlfriend. They were picking up their computer and offered to drop my off for an analysis with Mr. [redacted]. My computer was dropped off on Saturday, April 27, 2013. I received a call within a couple of days from Mr. [redacted] stating what the problem was, how much it was going to cost and how long it would take. I was told it was my power source that needed replace, it would cost $150.00 and would take one week. My computer should have been completed by Saturday, May 4, 2013 but I never received a call from Mr. [redacted]. I called him the following week and he informed me that he had lost my number and was glad that I called. My part was not available within the states and needed to be ordered from China. It was going to cost an additional $50.00. I called every week for over a month and was told on each occasion that the part was still in customs. I contacted Mr. [redacted] on or about June 7, 2013, to inquire on status and let Mr. [redacted] know that I was having some financial issues but as soon as I had the money I would call him. I sent an email on 7/26/13 asking if I could pick up my computer. Mr. [redacted] replied that it was going to cost an additional $102.00 for storage fees ($2.00 per day for 51 days) and if I didn't pick up my computer within the week, he was going to sell it. I was never informed about this until I sent him the email. Mr. [redacted] had my computer 34 days longer than he originally told me it would take for repairs. I'm not charging him $2.00 a day for the inconvenience I suffered so how can he legally charge me $2.00 per day for storage without prior notification. My computer is a Dell XPS All-In-One which originally cost me around $1800.00 and he thinks he can sell it to make his $102.00 storage fees. Is this legal? What should I do to resolve this issue? He lives in a very dangerous area and I'm afraid to show up there.
