At the end of February of 2019, I hired DDJ Plastering to re-stucco the south-facing exterior wall of my home in order to fix an issue of rainfall and moisture leaking in through the interior walls. DDJ explained that the work to be done would be to demolish the old wall and cut out rot, waterproof the wall and properly flash the windows, and build a new stucco wall. DDJ also claimed to offer a 5-year warranty on labor and materials, as well as guaranteeing me that the interior leaking situation would be eliminated. DDJ quoted me $7,549.99 for the aforementioned work, to which I agreed and signed a contract for, and paid each installment immediately when billed.
Throughout the work process, DDJ was prompt, friendly and informative about the current stages of the job. However, once they were "finished" (March 2019) I began to notice areas that were not complete, notably holes that were not covered with stucco and/or sealant where you could see to the outside when standing inside the basement.
I allowed them some time to find an available date to come back at the beginning of April 2019, to which DDJ agreed to return and fix the areas that were not finished. But DDJ kept delaying the day to come back even when I consistently reminded them. It wasn't until the end of May 2019, and when I informed them I would take legal action, that they came back and patched the holes with sealant.
It is now February 2020 and the same leaks have reappeared and worse than before DDJ did their job. So, I reached out to DDJ once again to uphold their warranty and guarantee, but they have not responded. I researched their business on the Washington State Dept. L&I website and found that their contractor license was suspended in 2018 and officially expired in May 2019, closing their business down. However, they reopened/reapplied for a new contractor license, which was again suspended in January 2020. They also have a lawsuit history filed against them along with several outstanding unpaid tax debts.
