David Dodge Reviews (24)

Review: Purchased Dodge [redacted] Truck (David Dodge, [redacted] PA) on April 28, 2014. I was involved in an accident on May 17, 2014. Notified insurer, [redacted] Insurance, and [redacted] was not notified of new Dodge [redacted] truck purchase by David Dodge. [redacted] Insurance has NO record of being contacted by anyone from David Dodge [redacted] dealership; therefore will not cover collision damages to Dodge [redacted] truck.

I reviewed David Dodge paperwork (pink receipt) and it has the INCORRECT insurer AND INCORRECT policy number on the form. I provided my INSURANCE card at the time of trade-in/purchase which HAS NOT changed.

In Pennsylvania, it is against the law to allow a driver to drive off w/o verification of proper insurance coverage, which David Dodge obviously, did NOT do. I even used David Dodge financing through [redacted]. Now, I am unable to get anyone from David Dodge to return my phone calls. How was I able to drive off the lot without David Dodge verifying auto insurance information? I would like to resolve this issue and have ALL collision damages to Dodge [redacted] truck repaired at no cost to me since it is NOT my error. If I do not receive a response within five business days, I will have my attorney reach out to David Dodge and [redacted] Bank to discuss David Dodge's shady business practices.Desired Settlement: Repair or Replacement of new Dodge [redacted] Truck

To the Revdex.com and **. [redacted],First and foremost, I'm sorry about the accident you had with your new vehicle. You didn't mention injury, so I'm assuming you are ok, which may be the most important thing.

Review: I purchased my 2006 [redacted] from David Dodge on Aug 21st 2013. It came with an inspection that was completed a week prior when I began to look at the car. Today I went to have my car inspected at my trusted auto body shop, upon inspection they found holes in the sub-frame along with a lot of rust that in their opinion, and the opinion of the 5 other employees there at the time, there is no way the detrition of the sub-frame could have happened in the past year that I have owned the car. Their opinion is it has been this way for over a year or 2, and the current condition is not safe to be driven. I contacted the dealer and they said they stand behind their employee who inspected the car last year, and that they always do a full inspection of the used cars before sale, yet in the opinion of many trained mechanic's this kind of of detrition couldn't happen in a matter of months but more like a matter of years. The car still is not paid off being I just purchased it just over a year ago and now I am being left to pay the $3000-$5000 repair cost by myself. I am a stay at home mother of 3 and a step child on the weekends, it is our only car that fits our whole family and I don't have the credit or money to trade this car in and roll over all the extra cost into another vehicle. The deal in my opinion and the opinion of the auto body shop is responsible for selling this car in this condition a year ago and they knowing sold it with this problem, and either didn't conduct a proper inspection and put stickers on anyway, or they saw it and looked over it and passed it onto me as my responsibility. I am very unhappy and had to leave my car at the dealer and now am without a car at all and they refused also to give me a loaner car until this could get resolved. I need help to have this concluded as soon as possible. in the morning I am also filing a complaint with the nation inspection agency to have an internal investigation into their inspection process and to see if their was any proof on their end they knew about this problem. thank you.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome would be for David Dodge to replace the sub-frame at no cost to me, and then if they feel it an issue with [redacted] they can file against them for a refund. I do not have the funds to pay this out of pocket and try and fight [redacted] when the car was sold to me in this condition. The dealer should be responsible for their fake or faulty inspection process and this should have been addressed a year ago when I purchased the vehicle.

Response:

Thank you for contacting

us with the complaint from [redacted],

Today [redacted]

picked up her vehicle. We repaired the area in question as a gesture of

goodwill.

It should be noted that

this vehicle passed our extensive used vehicle check prior to her purchase in

August of 2013. We had no record of any rust present at the time of

inspection. It should be noted that our inspection record with the State of

Pennsylvania was unquestioned until [redacted]’s concern. The State of

Pennsylvania sent an inspector, who was unable to determine that we had any

misstep in our inspection in August of 2013. He did however ask us to take a

hard look at finding a way to help the client. We did just that. We also

replaced a tie rod end that was not under warranty and was prohibiting her from

getting the vehicle successfully inspected.

Further, by [redacted]'s account, she had the vehicle serviced for maintenance several times

in the 14 months she has owned the car. The car was driven over 20,000 miles in

that period of time. It also was an unusually harsh winter.

During that period of

time we were never contacted regarding any deterioration of the vehicle. A

normal oil change should have put a technician in the position of noting the

issue, as the vehicle is raised and the work is conducted from below the

vehicle.

She did all that service

elsewhere, so we were unable to report on any declining condition of the

sub-frame.

Obviously, if [redacted] had come to us at an earlier interval it would have been much easier

for us to conclude that the roots of the rust were in place before we delivered

the car.

All that said, we are

pleased that we were able to extend the goodwill, having taken into account Ms.

Spinelli's hardship and her need for transportation, even though we had no

obligation under the terms of our sale or any warranties on the vehicle, given

time and mileage.

Thank you again for your

contact, and your patience as we moved forward to figure out how to reasonably

handle this situation.

I remain available on

this or any other issue the Revdex.com should ever need me to address. But I am

hopeful that this concludes any further concerns going forward on this specific

vehicle and our responsibilities.

Sincerely

David * K[redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: My 2010 Dodge Challenger rear subframe fell off of my car, I brought my car to David Dodge service to have them make a claim with my warranty company. I was advised my warranty claim was being denied based on assumptions from David Dodge's service department. Per Chrysler customer care they advised that the David Dodge service director [redacted] advised them that my car was raced based on aftermarket equipment on my car and that they are claiming that is why the subframe fell off my car. Chrysler advised that they will not review my denied warranty claim because they stand by their dealer. I have found information on line that this mechanical failure has happened to another vehicle like mine. At no time have I or my husband ever raced our vehicle and the equipment that is on the car was on it when we purchased it.Desired Settlement: I want the damage to my car to be covered under my warranty and have the damages repaired.

Business

Response:

To the Revdex.com and **. and [redacted]. [redacted],

I have researched your claim and the contacts with my dealership that resulted in your claim.

The [redacted]'s 2010 Dodge Challenger with 15,169 miles was towed into David Dodge on October the 24th. The customer concern was recorded as "the rear sub-frame seems to have failed/detached from vehicle". The car is still under the Chrysler factory 3 year / 36,000 mile basic comprehensive warranty (known as Bumper to Bumper). To that end we evaluated the vehicle under the terms of our Dealer Sales and Service agreement for warranty performance, policy and procedure.

During our examination, it is our belief that the damage that caused the sub-frame to detach was caused by a period, perhaps sustained period of excessive driving which was outside of the design for the usage of the vehicle. It is our obligation to examine a potential warranty claim in this manner. Should we not, we are solely responsible during a Chrysler warranty audit or upon return of the damaged/ defective parts to their examination and findings. Should Chrysler find that we were negligent and recorded excessive wear and tear as a "factory defect" they can and will deny the claim making us solely responsible for the cost of the parts and labor performed. We do a great deal of warranty work and are pleased when clients can rely on the warranty rather than have to pay cash. We have no motivation to have a client pay rather than the factory and have an exemplary record in warranty administration. When a claim is borderline, we are able and happy to yield in the clients favor as our ratings with Chrysler allow us to act within our discretion. We did not find this to be such a situation and regretfully could not justify the repair under the Chrysler warranty.

[redacted]. [redacted] called Chrysler with her concerns about her vehicle several times as we understand. They then called us to review are determination and the denied the claim without offering to have the vehicle inspected.

We did not stop there. We contacted our Factory Representative, [redacted]. We explained the clients displeasure with the situation and asked him to visit to give it the most liberal review he could to see if we could get him, as a representative of Chrysler to validate the claim and allow us to perform the operation under warranty on the clients behalf. Yesterday, 11.11.13, **. [redacted] visited and did an extensive examination of the vehicle and denied the claim as a factory defect. We take no pleasure in that and had relayed the circumstances to **. [redacted] in the hope that it could be approved. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I had waited to reply to this notice to allow time to get the results of his visit.

It should be noted that **. and [redacted] have explained to us that they purchased the vehicle pre-owned, from another dealer. This complaint references a purchase date of 7/13/2013. Further, they told us that they have only driven the vehicle some 500 miles since purchase. Based on the condition we saw, we find it highly likely that this type of physical wear happened over some time leading to the ultimate failure. While there is no way for us to conclusively tell, there is a likelihood that this wear was done over time by a previous owner culminating in the failure during the [redacted]'s ownership. While these facts did not play into our determination of warranty eligibility, it should be noted that there were rubber shards across the bottom of the car indicating rubber fragments spun off during excessive wheel spin. Also, the car was modified with a performance exhaust and cold air intake. Both of these items are usually modifications associated with some sort of racing. Also, there was a label on the engine that indicated a performance rating from a raceway which was dated a pre-dated the [redacted]s portrayed ownership. These facts could also indicate that the previous owner used the vehicle in a manner that may cause such damage as the car has sustained and explains why the [redacted]s are concerned about how this might have happened.

In conclusion, we are very sorry we are not able to help the [redacted]'s under the Chrysler Factory Warranty we are obligated to administrate per contract. Since they did not purchase the car pre-owned from David Dodge, we have no overriding Pre-owned vehicle warranty to rely on either. While we think the [redacted]s have a reasonable right to pursue this damage with some entity, it is not with us. We have done all we can do to try and repair their car under the remedies available to us.

I am sorry we could not have done more, but we simply have no means. They have been reasonable and cordial with my staff under difficult circumstance.

As always, we remain available to the [redacted]s and to the Bureau with anything you need us for in regards to this matter.

Sincerely,

David [redacted]

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

While I appreciate a response from David Dodge with regards to my complaint, it still remains that my warranty claim is denied based on their findings, which in my opinion are based on assumptions not facts.

Review: On 2/16/2013, I bought a Certified Pre-Owned 2010 Nissan Titan from David's Dodge. There was no disclosure whatsoever that the TPMS sensors were missing during the truck sale process!!!!

I noticed that the Tire Pressure Monitoring System light remained on, so I made sure the tire pressure for each tire was correct (35psi) hoping to clear the fault. Checking/filling the tires to the specified tire pressure did not clear the fault so I scheduled an appointment with my nearest Nissan dealer (Nissan of [redacted] for Saturday 3/9/2013 to take advantage of the remaining Factory Warranty.

On Saturday 3/9/2013I took the truck to get checked. After checking the truck they came back and told me the TPMS sensors were missing and is why the fault light remains on. I called my sales man [redacted] let him know that these sensors were missing.

He said to call the service department and they should take care of it. I called the service department and spoke to [redacted] about the issue and he said that he needs documentation from the Nissan dealer along with pricing because sales needed to pay for the installation work.

I called [redacted] back but there was no answer. I called the service department and there was no answer.

I then drove from [redacted] to [redacted] to attempt to see why suddenly I was getting no response.

I finally spoke to [redacted] and [redacted] about the Nissan dealer's findings and at that point I was scheduled for a service appointment on Monday 3/11/2013 at 9:55 AM.

On Monday 3/11/2013 I made it to the dealer five minutes after the scheduled time. They called the nearby [redacted] Nissan dealer to schedule the service on the truck. At approximately 1:00 PM the service manager on duty said that the cost is over $800.00 and he just could not eat up the cost. I spoke to both [redacted] and the Service Manager on duty but did neither one would try to compromise to fix this issue. The salesman never disclosed the Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors were missing.Desired Settlement: I want them to install brand new and program to work with my truck, any missing Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors to include the spare tire

Pay the any gas and tolls I paid related to resolving this issue.

Or

I can take the truck to my local dealer to have the work done and have David's Dodge pay for the work.

Consumer

Response:

I want David's Dodge to pay for the installation and programming of functional sensors to replace the missing sensors.

Additionally want to be reimbursed for tolls and milleage for any trips from my home address to David's Dodge to resolve the missing TPMS sensors issue.

Consumer

Response:

I want David's Dodge to pay for the installation and programming of functional (NEW) sensors to replace the missing sensors.

We have reached out to [redacted] and we believe that we have a solution to his issue. He has a scheduled service appointment for Tuesday 4/9/2013 to drop off his vehicle , we will provide him a loaner vehicle at no charge . At that time we will inspect his Tire Presure System, if needed will replace the sensors. [redacted] seems to be happy with the way we are handing the situation. I will up the Revdex.com once the vehicle is repaired.

Response:

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

The appointment was on Monday, April 8, 2013 8:15 AM. As per documentation initially attached to the complaint,my local Nissan dealer documented that the Tire Pressure Monitoring System sensors were definitely missing. That most definitely proved when the truck was taken to [redacted] Nissan to get the sensors installed. I got the vehicle back the same day and can see the sensors were installed and programmed. The warning light turned off and I am satisfied with the dealer's follow up. Is unfortunate that it took for me to open a complaint with the Revdex.com to get the results I should have gotten during my initial inquiry to the dealer.

I want to thank the Revdex.com for following up on my complaint as I had lost hope this issue would be resolved.
