Daughters With Degrees Reviews (%countItem)

are scamming my elderly 90 year old Mother and my family into paying more for services rendered and by saying we (Mom and family) have to issue 1099s to their employee-caregivers. *** seem to think my family is a business. We are not! Never have been. *** and *** are in business as “Daughters With Degrees”. They ARE a business. They should issue 1099s. My family is not in any way a business.

Daughters With Degrees Response • Feb 24, 2020

In regard to filing 1099's for the Caregivers that cared for *** mother:On January 27, 2020, on behalf of Daughters with Degrees, I offered (to all of our clients) to assist if anyone needed any information to assist in filing tax documents for the caregivers that worked in their homes for the 2019 tax year. We never at any time told our clients that they were "required" to do anything. It is entirely each family's prerogative to file (or not file) tax documents. In Ms. complaint she mentions that we (Daughters with Degrees) should file forms for our "employees". The caregivers that worked for Ms. family are independent contractors, not employees (Ms. was aware of this). Ms. paid them directly and therefore we (Daughters with Degrees) can not issue any sort of tax document for them.In regard to the "scamming" for more money:I am unclear on exactly what this accusation is in regard to. I have done my best to explain all billing in regard to this client.*** was billed for services rendered from December 12, 2019 through December 23, 2019 at the rate of $25.00 per hour. Our billing policy was explained to Ms. During the time that Daughters with Degrees caregivers cared for Ms. mother, 2 billing cycles occurred. Ms. shorted payment on Invoice #*** in the amount of $130.44 and promised to pay the remaining balance Mid-January 2020. We agreed to add the $130.44 to the final invoice #***. Ms. never paid invoice #***, nor did she pay the unpaid balance of $130.44 from Invoice #***.So, in response to "scamming into paying more for services rendered", there is absolutely no foundation to that accusation. Simply put, Ms. was billed $25.00 per hour for each hour that a caregiver was with her Mother between the dates of 12/12/19 - 12/23/19. In response to "constant badgering" there has been no contact with Ms. since January 28, 2020 when we recieved an email from Ms. expressing her displeasure with my email offering to assist with any tax information she may need.I would greatly appreciate confirmation of receipt of this email.Thank you for your time.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I was NEVER informed by DWD that the caregivers were not their employees but Independent Contractors. I was told an invoice would be sent every 2 weeks by DWD. They NEVER stated that said invoice would contain bills from 13 different caregivers and that I would be expected to mail checks to each person individually. They implied that I would write one check for said invoice. I was told that DWD would keep the number of different individuals providing care to a minimum, in other words, not a new girl for almost every visit, which occurred, causing extreme anxiety for my mother. I was told the monies invoiced directly to DWD was for organization, paperwork, etc. for their agency. I had the burden of paperwork writing and mailing checks to their contractors (including postage). They never provided a contract or written specifics regarding this. I was blindsided by their total lack of transparency regarding their operation and the fact that their caregivers were not vetted employees. This is why I call their Agency “scamming”. They misrepresented their caregivers. As for 1099’s, because they never indicated the caregivers were not employees, they also never indicated I would be respond for issuing said documents. I did not remit final monies because I did their job and completed administrative duties to pay their caregivers.

Regards

I am replying to ID.*** and I own Daughters with Degrees LLC and we are proud of the home care we provide for the Cleveland area. We have cared for over one hundred elderly individuals in our city and we remain focused on treating all clients with respect and compassion.Often times our client’s have children who live out of town. We have also encountered client’s with children living in town who may be less connected to their parent. Each family is unique and we do our best to accommodate the needs that meet us at the door of the client's home. Needless to say there were many extenuating circumstances that complicated this case.*** and I know how this case was evolving and why we had to exit ourselves and our caregivers from the client’s home. There are always two sides to every story. We were here in Cleveland observing the case and attempting to manage the tumultuous family dynamics along with caring for the client.Sincerely
