I was brought in by ambulance with a head wound and extreme alcohol intoxication. The ER never did anything to clean up my head wound (not even a little peroxide wipe!) but proceeded to administer a CAT scan, which was fortunately negative. They administered a bag of IV fluid and released me with "withdrawal meds" of 1 mg of Ativan every 8 hours. (Completely inadequate dosage!) They never referred me to any detox clinics, nor did they contact my Primary Care Physician. When I saw my own Doctor a few days later he remarked "well, at Danbury Hospital you get what you get." My ER doctor was inefficient and uninvolved. When I pushed the button for "toilet," no one came and my girlfriend finally had me urinate in one of the plastic containers though I was perfectly capable of walking to a restroom. My discharge instructions were a textbook printout and in no way personally applied to me. I've had good experiences here in the past, but this was completely unacceptable. I'm doing better now on my own and thanks to my personal physician. My personal opinion is Danbury Hospital's ER needs a refresher course in addiction treatment! And, good Lord, clean up any wound that comes in!
I’ve gone in there with a wound and they never cleaned or wrapped it. It was disgusting
Many Danbury hospital staff are rude and unprofessional. They are understaffed and the patient ends up with very bad quality of care. Do not visit this hospital
