Our home, built by Don Girtz Construction has has continual water problems in the basement and throughout the yard ever since it was built.
We purchased our house in 2006. Shortly after, we noticed large ponding of water in our back yard whenever it rained. We received no help in resolving this issue, and we had to pay approximately $5,000 to repair these drainage issues. We also have water coming in through the block in our basement. This has happened since the first summer we were in the home. Don Girtz's solution was to redrill weep holes in a few spots. This did not correct the problem, and after many repeated phone calls (including some from lawyers), his next solution was to give us a 5 gallon bucket of waterproof paint that we could apply ourselves. Neither of these worked, and we continue to have water seeping into the walls of our basement. We have found mold throughout the basement. I continue to call to make a warranty claim and ask for help, but I have not received any calls back. We have started getting bids to have other contractors fix these issues, and we are now preparing to pay another $10,000 to have these issues fixed.

The steps that were done incorrectly or not done at all by Don Girtz Construction are:
*Improper grading/planning for drainage in our yard
*Improper draintile installation
*Improper vapor barrier installation
*No/not enough weep holes drilled into the block
*Wooden support beams that sit on the footer, leading to water wicking
