I contacted D and F plumbing to install some specs needed for some equipment, and to identify and correct if possible the source of a separate water leak.
Here are the specs that I showed the plumber upon arrival:
La Marzocco Linea 2ee - Cold water supply with 3/8" compression Shut-off
Curtis G4 Single - Cold Water Supply with 3/8" compression
The tech did not install what was needed, and also did not correctly identify the source of a leak.
I sent a detailed complaint to the company and had to ask several times for responses. They made a partial refund of 40% without any information or response. I then asked for information on how they arrived at that figure, as I recieved 0% of the service I paid for, and although I have asked for a response multiple times I have received none.
I have copies of the complaint, the multiple attempts at contact, and photos of the results of the work which had to be discarded and redone by a licensed plumber.
Hello,
First we'd like to say thank you for choosing D&F Plumbing. We take pride in customer satisfaction and never want people to walk away unhappy with our service. Maybe I can help clarify the situation.
Attached you'll see a description of the work performed. Our technician installed a double stop for a coffee maker and also took care of a leak that was under warranty with no charge. We do need to pay our employees for the work they perform and the time they spend at a job, which was included on the invoice statement I have provided.
Beyond that, we provided a refund for a portion of the service in effort to improve the situation. We apologize if the billing was unclear to you, but I hope you're happy with the result of our work.
Thank you again for choosing D&F Plumbing.

I am rejecting this response because:Thank you for your response.Regarding the Installation: Here is the job the plumber was
asked to do (these are the exact specs the plumber was given upon arrival, bold
added on the plumbing vs electical):
La Marzocco Linea 2ee
- 220v 30a. single phase 3 wire circuit with NEMA L6-30R Outlet. Cold water supply with 3/8"
compression Shut-off, Indirect drain (floor sink)
Curtis G4 Single -
220v. 20a. Single Phase 4 wire circuit with NEMA L14-20R outlet. Cold Water Supply with 3/8"
compression. No Drain needed
The plumber INSTEAD installed some contraption on the OLD
pump which I more than once told him was going to be replaced with the new
equipment. The plumber did NOT do the work that he was hired for and we had to
have it done by a different plumber. A photo of the work is attached, the old
pump then went into the garbage along with whatever that was that the plumber attached
to it.
A photo is also attached of the CORRECT work which a
licensed plumber had to do afterward.
Regarding the leak: You are incorrect in stating that the
plumber ‘took care of’ a leak. The plumber refused to take care of the leak and
told me I had to get the part myself. When I asked him to loosen the part, he
instead put tape on it and did not loosen it. As stated in my initial
complaint, the leak wasn’t even identified correctly and continued to fill the
bucket thereafter. Even after I called back and told him I didn’t think it was
identified correctly, he still only looked at the one spot and never identified
the leak. I ended up identifying it myself and fixing it. You are also
incorrect in stating that it was at no charge, as the plumber spent roughly 20
minutes on it and then indicated he was required to charge for a full hour so
therefore I paid $195 for that work which resulted in no effect.
As I’ve stated multiple times, I received no value or result
for the $450 I was charged. The contraption on the pump had to go into the
garbage with the old pump, I had to hire a new plumber to install the supply
line, and the leak had no change until I found it myself. I would like your
company to stand by your work therefore I would like a full refund. I question
this plumber’s competence. If this matter is not resolved I will be filing a
complaint against his license and will seek legal remedies.
Thank you
Sincerely
They made a partial refund of 40% without any information or response. I then asked for information on how they arrived at that figure, as I recieved 0% of the service I paid for, and although I have asked for a response multiple times I have received none. I have copies of the complaint, the multiple attempts at contact, and photos of the results of the work which had to be discarded and redone by a licensed plumber.
Hello - I copied and pasted from your complaint that we had provided the returned money agreed upon it was 40% back to you as you stated. There are many business cost associated with a plumber coming to a customers home even before the work begins. We again we are sorry for the miscomunication in the situation and will continue to improve and use this situation for training.
Thank you. The initial charge was $450.00. I received a $185 refund on 04/04/19 prior to filing the Revdex.com complaint. When the company responded to the Revdex.com complaint indicating they would issue a $240 refund, I took that to mean an additional refund, as the amount was different from the initial refund.
I am seeking a full refund for services, for a total of $450.00. I received absolutely no value from the services as the work was done incorrectly. Additionally, dealing with this company has cost me much time and frustration in emails and phone calls trying to resolve this matter.
I received a phone call on Tuesday 05/21/19 from a representative of the company indicating they would issue a full refund. As of this morning 05/23/19 there appeared a pending credit in the amount of $265 on my credit card. If this credit becomes correctly processed the matter will be resolved. I am hesitant to consider it resolved until the credit is posted because the company did not follow through with their prior agreement to refund and I had to take the time to re-open the claim.
Thank you for your assistance.
Brandon was great. He explained what he needed to do beforehand. We had a thoroughly rotten mess under the kitchen sink, but he didn’t even blink—just got to work. He made sure everything was working and nothing was leaking before he even wrote up the charges. D&F plumbers are always reliable and perform professional quality work. Thanks so much!!
Charles from D & F Plumbing did a fantastic job and was a pleasure to deal with. He had to take our toilet off to get the work done and he did a great job cleaning up after completion.
We have used D & F on multiple jobs now, large and small and have been happy every time.
Fast and efficient service. The repair person, Steve, was friendly and helpful. His explanations were clear.
I was very pleased with D & F. Ron made short work fixing both of my problems. I am very happy and would use them again.
Don't be fooled - D & F does NOT do location services! I made an appointment for a plumber to come out to locate a leak in our water main. I was told it would be $119 and a specialist would come out with "special" tools to help find leaks and provide us with a quote. We already knew the leak was between the house and the street. The plumber arrived with no tools, viewed the water shutoff valve in the basement, said our water main was galvanized, and told me the only option was a total water main replacement (street to house). No special tools and no investigative work outside the house - again, where we already knew the leak was outside the house. The quote was $4500. I paid the $119 for the "location services" as requested. A few days later, we decided to take a closer look outside the house to see if we could find the leak before we made a final decision to have the work done. Long story short is that after some digging, we were able to find the leak in the PVC to copper adapter (yes, the water main was NOT galvanized), and I was able to fix it myself for $15. I called D & F Plumbing the next day and expressed my disappointment that I was charged $119 for location services NOT rendered and a COMPLETELY wrong assessment. I was told that the owner of the company would be notified so he can decide how to deal with the situation. Since they did not get back to me, I guess they're OK with taking our money.
We have returned customers $119.00. Customer was told piping was very old and we could not repair.
Steve was very helpful friendly. A+ guy. Thank you for everything!!
We had a pipe break at 4am, Aaron responded promptly & immediately referred us to a restoration company. He found the problem & got it taken care of & had the building water turned back on by the time the neighbors were getting up.
We are very pleased !
Thank you Aaron & D&F
The work they do is excellence, and they explain what the problem in details. I can always count on
this company they're very professional I been a customer since 2007.
Thank you
Steve S from D and F Plumbing was absolutely outstanding. Not only did he do an extremely thorough and excellent job in the adverse conditions of muddy, cold, and rainy weather, he also was patient and thorough in explaining what he was doing so the average person could understand what was going on. We felt confident and assured while he was working and also certain that after he finished, we would not have these particular issues back ever again in the future. We would highly recommend him for any job. He is a really nice guy and very strong on integrity.
Rob H/D&F Plumbing was project manager to replace all of our lead contaminated piping at the Oregon Society of Artists. Rob thoroughly investigated our building as he prepared their cost estimate & schedule. He identified challenges & included solutions. The D&F bid was competitive with two other bids while including additional labor & materials, including a new water heater. Rob understood our tight financial circumstances, kept us informed on a daily basis, completed the work without a change order, & finished a day early. We are extremely satisfied with the services provided by Rob/D&F. Thanks.
Rob H is the man. Continues to deliver and set the standard.
Rob H,
ABSOLUTELY the best plumber I have encounter for my plumbing repairs/needs. Has always been honest, caring and professional! A very clean plumber with presentable attire ( hard to find ) takes the time to answer all my questions and helps me understand how plumbing works. Always gives me opstions on repairs depending on my needs and wants. No need to look elsewhere!!!! If you need a plumber ask for ROB
I found D & F Plumbing through our HOA property manager who had heard "good" things about their work. After reviewing their website, I could tell their long history (in business since 1927) as a family run local business, was testament enough that they have been doing something very right! Their website was clear and concise as to the services provided and when I set up the appointment with Jenny, she was very friendly and explained the cost for an appointment, assessment and work to be done, if needed. I have not used a plumber in over 20 years and am retired, so needed to be assured of quality work at a fair price . . . and, that was exactly what I got! Doug arrived within the time frame specified and after assessing the leak in my pipe, he also showed me the physical difference between the shiny, not steel, leaky pipe, and the, for lack of a better term, plastic one. I was so relieved to have the leak repaired. I was not charged by the hour but by the job and parts! Doug, like Jenny, was very friendly and knowledgable--when a company has employees who function by the same standards, it readily shows from the first phone call to completion of the job. I HIGHLY recommend D & F Plumbing and keep their magnetic business card on my refrigerator for quick reference when the next set of pipes leak. Thank you again D & F!
D&F Plumbing was very professional and did a great job! We will definitely be using them again.
We have used D&F plumbing for all our plumbing needs. When we have emergencies they are right there. Brandon C one of their plumbers has been instrumental in repairing major water leaks at our company. He kept us informed and he was very cooperative and understanding throughout this time. D&F has been and will be the plumber we call when we need ine
On August 20 D & F Plumbing responded to our request for service and repair. Once on site the plumber replaced a disposal and that went well. Then he was dispatched to a backed-up pipe and back flow into our fibers studio. The plumber left the job site without advising the College representative that the job was not complete. We do not know how long he stayed, or what he did exactly. He did not leave an invoice or description of work. We believed the job to be complete. D & F Plumbing charged our corporate credit card $1,245 ($495 for a new disposal and $750 for the major back up)
One week late, on August 29, the same studio in our fibers department flooded with another back flow - this time much worse than the week before. We called D & F for an emergency response. With the second visit the issue seems to have been resolved. D & F Plumbing charged the College $3,905.00 for the second service.
We requested a credit of $750, to reflect the wasted service and billing on August 20. Subsequent to our request, we received a copy of the plumber's work description for August 20. He wrote on the work description that he was not able to clear the line. Had he communicated this to us, we could have avoided a second emergency one week later.
D & F has refused to grant us any consideration for the lack of service and result on August 20. I requested a call from the owner twice by phone, and did not receive a return call. Pending a return call I withheld payment of the $750. D & F Plumbing subsequently sent the College to collections.
We have since paid the $750 in protest, realizing that the only thing we could do was to complain to the Revdex.com. It isn't enough money to deal with a property lien. But we do feel that the ability to put a lien in place gives D & F Plumbing the ability to extort funds from the College. They have a free pass to show up and do nothing, bill the customer, and successfully collect.
We will be returning the $750.00 Thank you

Requested and received a verbal quote for rough in of plumbing for two seperate shower valves. Work completed only was for one. Both stubs to go off of were clearly pointed out and discussed. Since one set already had valves the recommendation for valves on the second set was made and approved. Clear indication that the plumber was aware of both and we had discussed. Significant other paid for the work completed without doing a minimum inspection of work performed. Upon inspection it revealed that only half the job was completed. Upon readdressing with the plumber on the concern he stated he was unaware of doing the other stubs at this time. Would not acknowledge that the quote was for that but provided quote for continuation of work like both stubs have been completed.
On October 30th we had our plumber arrive at the *** residence, were he had visited and viewed the areas which the owners wanted work performed he gave them a cost to perform the work to install a 1/2 inch hot and cold water line from the basement to the Hall bath shower located on the main for. Work was accepted and our plumber spent half the day there, performed the work, with the residents, they had viewed and signed the paperwork acknowledging that the work was performed in a professional manner. Mr. called here demanding that we go back and run an additional line at a no charge, additional lines to another valve that my plumber at the time was not made aware of, we were happy to oblige but that work would also need to be charged for, Mr. Was very demanding insisting that we go out there and spend another half day doing additional work at a no charge. We did offer him discounts to perform the needed work but he did not feel that he should be charged. All work was done on good faith estimates the paperwork has been signed and documented and we still would honor us going out there performing the additional work needed. He was very abrupt cursed out my dispatcher on the phone when we proceeded to hang up and not deal with that type of attitude. D&F plumbing has been in business since 1927 we are a strong Union plumbing company and aa always very professional manner, as was the work performed on the day of services
had a problem with a leak which we weren't aware of until we receive an extremely high utility bill. The plumber came and looked at the problem and gave me 2 scenarios and costs. 1 digging up the entire water line in the building & replacing costing upwards to $10,000 the 2nd capping off the water line in the ground and using the new line that is in the ceiling, running a few short lines with the flex hose in open walls and changing out the trap the he said was antique an needed to be changed making it up to code and was where we had to break up the cement anyways to look at the pipes around $2,500. Before he could start he was made to have me sign a paper that we would pay up to $10,000 I said yes even if I have to get a loan. so I signed. We did end up capping off the old line and was I ever happy dodged a bullet. He asked me if we would like to have them do the put back work I said yes that would be great 2 small maybe 12' x 12' pieces of drywall and plastic board and poring cement section 4' x3' or smaller, its hard to find someone to do such a small job. I thought the same company doing the put back but that was not a good idea but won't go into that now. So finally I received a bill just had our name there name and amount due $10,000. So I called they said they would have to call me back. no call, now a past due bill statement ..so I messaged them on their web site. now they called they said the plumber that did the job would have to call me back. thats weird. so he did and he was surprised about my bill and said he would have to talk to his boss now I received a call offering me $1500 off "would that make me feel better?' I said I want to pay my bill however this isn't even close I am aware that there would be extra for the put back. they just charged me the full price I signed that I could be responsible for............ wow convenient billing. This isn't even close to right.
we were called out by ***, for a "broken pipe coming from washing machine". upon inspection we found we needed to excavate concrete, repair drains for laundry and floor drain, and need to trouble shoot system, contain leak and reroute plumbing to the bathroom. Unfortunately we do not have crystal balls, nor can we see thru concrete! Yes, 10,000 was a budgetary number because, again, we cannot see thru concrete.. this was discussed with *** and she signed off on the up front price we gave her. We broke out and removed concrete serving laundry and floor drain. Once piping was exposed, we had to replace drains for laundry and floor drain with abs. We had to expose piping in walls and ceiling to find where newer copper lines tied into existing galvanized pipe for connection of new lines. We rerouted toilet, lav and laundry lines. replaced stops and supplies. We made necessary repairs, rerouted all new plumbing, installed up to code and tested. We had over 43 journeyman and labor hours plus all the materials for this job. If we were to have done this job T & M it would have been over $10,000 based on the hours and materials, as my plumber quoted this at $10,000.00 that is what we invoiced as that is what she agreed to. We did our job and did it well. This invoice stands as it is. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because: I was not signing a quote for $10,000 as I said there were two thoughts which didn't end up being the all encompassing tear up all the water line. They were not called out about the wash machine it was about a leaking pipe in the ground which we had a photo of. There was not that many hours stated! What a scam!
Sincerely
I have a job ticket with signature on the bid. the work was completed.. the technicians were paid for the hours stated. This job is complete, occupants are utilizing facilities. We have been in business too long to "scam" people.. we are too busy to have time to "scam" people and that is not the way we do business, never have and never will. We consider this closed. Thank you.
I requested an Invoice that shows a complete and accurate breakdown of costs for the parts and labor for the plumbing work performed at my home. The Invoice that you sent is inadequate and the price is excessive for the work performed.
On October 20, 2017, a D&F plumber arrived at my home to provide me with an estimate to fix the following items. I provided the Moen parts for the master bath sink and shower. He inspected all three toilets and told me what was wrong with each. All three toilets worked without any major problems but I wanted them to get updated plumbing innards to prevent any future problems years from now. I was told that the master bath toilet was outdated, not flushing properly, and using too much water.
He repaired the hot water handle and the shower handle before he left for the day.
Repairs discussed, requested and ordered to be fixed:
1 hot water handle – master bath sink
1 shower handle – master bath shower
3 toilets that needed interior plumbing parts that were worn
1 toilet seat replacement for master bath toilet
1 possible complete toilet replacement in master bath (will determine when replacing parts)
The plumber quoted me a price to fix all of the above items, including the complete toilet replacement, for around $995.00. He said that it would take between 6-8 hours to fix everything. He said that he would have to order a few parts for the toilets and would call me to reschedule another appointment to come out and fix everything.
On November 17, 2017 between the hours of 7am and 2pm, a D&F Plumber was scheduled to come to my home to work on my toilets. He arrived approximately 1 hour late and left after 3 hours of work. (according to my son)
I cannot tell if the parts were replaced or just cleaned and reused. The master toilet seat was not replaced nor was the master toilet. It took approx 3 hours to complete the entire job yet I'm charged $995 which is excessive.
You were told about our up front pricing at the time of the call. We have a 99.00 diagnostic dispatch fee, that is waived if we do any work. the plumber will arrive, get his eyes on the job and give you an up front price. you can either decline the work and pay the 99 or authorize the work for the quoted price, which you did. we do not break the work down, that is why we give you an up front price. Which you authorized. We do not clean and reuse existing parts unless YOU request it, at which point there is no guarantee. Our plumber gave you a fair, up front price based on work that needed to be done, time to order parts, receive them, return to your home and perform the repairs. you were given the up front price and authorized it, we do not give you a break down of time or materials. This is our company policy which was given to you BEFORE you booked the appointment. Thank you.
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
First – No one informed me about a “company policy” of not providing an itemized break down of time and materials after the job is complete. This is simply not true!!!
Over the course of 6 months since I purchased my home I had…, carpet installed, window treatments installed, freezer repaired, electrical repairs, etc., some of these businesses charged a $99 dispatch/diagnostic fee, each provided an itemized proposed estimate of parts/materials/costs, upfront - which I signed. Upon job completion, each business left an invoice that specifically listed the job, itemized out the parts and materials used, total hours for labor, and the total costs for the job completion. I paid these businesses on time being fully satisfied with the work performed and the amount charged.
The main reason I called for a plumber was to replace a broken shower handle and a broken sink handle. I had purchased the replacement parts for this job and the plumber used the parts for the repairs and did an excellent job. I agreed to the $99 diagnostic fee. I also asked the plumber to look at my three toilets. All three of my toilets were in fair to good working condition but needed some minor adjustments and a few replacement parts according to the plumber. (tightening flush handle on one toilet, replacing the rubber flap on three toilets, cleaning out the sediments buildup in all three toilets, fix the toilet that is using too much water to fill the tank due to “double flushing” – this toilet is outdated and MAYBE need to be replaced based on what he finds after he replaces the tank parts). The plumber said, “I will have to order the parts and won’t know about the master toilet needing to be fully replaced until I get a closer look). He said, “with everything included, ordering the parts, maybe replacing the entire toilet in the master, the entire job may cost around $995 and will take 6 to 8 hours to complete”.
The plumber provided me with an invoice with a “proposed cost estimate” and that is why I signed the form. I assumed that the final invoice would show an accurate accounting of the work completed and the costs associated with this work.
To reiterate, the plumber was scheduled to arrive at my home at 7am. He arrived at my home approximately 45 minutes to one hour late and completed the job in 3 hours. I waited for 30 minutes so I can talk to the plumber but had to go to work. My son let the plumber in and stayed while the plumber worked. I called my son around 12:15pm and my son said that the plumber had left a while ago.
Dealing with D & F Plumbing company is the first time I have ever had to deal with a business unwilling to provide an itemized invoice that list the cost breakdown of parts and labor. How in the world is the customer assured that the work performed and the costs associated with the job is accurate and fair? How can this business assure that the customer is not being overcharge for the work performed???
There are so many inconsistencies in how D & F conducts business and I am concerned that their business practices are unfair and lacks integrity. I feel that I am being cheated out of several hundred dollars.
I am most anxious to pay this bill and get all of this behind me but I want it to be fair. Having an itemized invoice that list the costs of the parts, labor, materials, is the only fair and equitable process of handling this matter. As soon as I receive an invoice that shows an accurate accounting of the work performed, costs, and labor, I will immediately send payment.
