I purchased a dining room table made by Lane Furniture that has defective workmanship as agreed upon by the company that I purchased it from.
I purchased a dining room table number XXX-XX, a pedestal table from Lane Furniture in October 2010. The table has a typical wood apron on it. On the underside of the apron, screws are screwed into it all around the apron. The screws are typically screwed centrally into the underside of the apron. However, two of the twelve screws are screwed right up against the outside of the table. Using the table as it is intended, as someone gently rubbed against the table, as people do as the sit and stand at a table, a wood chip has occurred at these two screws. I purchased the table from Almans Furniture who sells this table for Lane Furniture. Almans agrees this is a manufacturing defect and should be replaced. They agree that these chips could not be prevented and no excess use of the table has happened. Lane contends that the one year warranty has expired. I have consulted an attorney who states that a expected level of workmanship is expected and that damage like this will not necessarily happen inside of one year especially with a 2 to 3 times a year that we actually use this dining room table.
