Told new shocks would eliminate creaking noises from front. Noises so loud that they mask noises from differential ready to expire.
Found a '98 Chevy S-10 Blazer on Craigs List at dealership previously named. On Tues, July 9, 2013 my wife & I who live in Ames, Ia. drove to said dealership. Staff by name of [redacted] brought Blazer from shop to where we were in lot, I was told that new shocks would end noises coming from vehicle. ( in later phone calls, he repeated that everything he told me was what he was told.) Bad business practice selling items on 2nd hand info??? After putting new shocks on and new front tires, noise was still there. Took to local mechanic & paid $758.49 for new front ball joints & to charge A/C that was supposed to work, but didn't. Noises from bad ball joints was loud enough to mask soon to be terminal differential noises, which will cost another $500 -$700 or more on top of the $1499 + $40 doc. fees (?)for the Blazer, along with the $290 for new front tires, $40 for new front shocks, $758.49 for ball joints & a/c repair! Yes, I bought "as is", but when buying, because of front end noise, couldn't hear noises from rear end, and thus, misrepresentation I feel, along with being sold a vehicle, yes, as is, but on 2nd hand info, and inability at the time of sale to fully know the extent of Blazers condition, and trying to settle the situation by phone, 1,2,&3 days after the transaction, and their offer for me to drive back up there , and have them diagnose the noise problem on the front after I had bought & installed new shocks, tires, & to recharge the A/C which "was working at time of sale", (NOT) would have done nothing for me except make me buy more gas, as there were no offers to fix noise problems after diagnosis, and as noise seemed to all be coming from front end, differential problems, I am certain would not have even been looked for. [redacted] was the person who called me wanting me to bring blazer back to D & D, but after he said that they would not fix problems, he made some statement about the offer being a "moral" thing to do? I don't understand how this was a moral offer when it was just going to cost me money for gas, even with the offer to charge the what was sold as working A/C
