Taxes were prepared before April 15, 2013, deadline, and were to be paid electronically. When I saw that taxes had not been taken from checking account, numerous calls were made to [redacted] to [redacted]rm of concern, and she kept replying not to worry. Then late May a letter from IRS was received claiming bank account from which taxes were to be paid was closed. Our bank account was never closed and correct bank [redacted]rmation was provided. When I called IRS they said the taxes were filed late...on May 30, 2013. [redacted] said they were filed on time, and would make sure to pay taxes. After 2 or 3 additional letters from IRS and numerous unanswered calls from [redacted], my husband said to pay penalty. Much later, [redacted] returns call that she had been out of town, and that said she had already paid the IRS, so I told her I would refund her once IRS refunded the extra payment. IRS said there were calls from [redacted], and only one payment was made. After numerous calls again and visit to her office, she gave me a check to cover penalty we paid. She said she had already mailed a refund check to me, but it was never sent. I tried cashing check, but Chase Bank said they could not honor check at that time, and suggested I not deposit check. I called [redacted], and I asked her to please deposit money, and let me know so I could cash check, but she has not returned call.
