My family and I were moved into a "renovated" apartment that was overrun with mold.
My wife, 2 small children, and I applied for a lease at this location. We were informed that we would be moving into a renovated apartment with updated appliances and many other amenities. When we moved in, we discovered the renovations had never taken place. On top of this, we found black mold, orange mold, and geeen mold spread throughout the numerous holes in the apartment's ceiling and walls. I have an asthmatic toddler and a baby with a weak immune system, so we let them know immediately that I had to move my wife and kids out of this environment. The gentleman that leased us the apartment was extremely nice, and unaware of all the issues. He informed us that the only person who had access to the system for such a complaint would be back on Monday, as she doesnt work weekends. We've tried contacting corporate, only to be told that we have to contact them through their website, which we did without any reply. On Monday (today, the 7th), we went into the leasing office and were informed that the lady that had access was out due to family emergency. All things considered, I feel bad saying this, but my family is having an emergency as well. I can't seem to get a hold of anybody who will actually help resolve this issue, and it's beginning to effect my health. I've had to stay in the apartment due to having our stuff still there, and I'm waking up with headaches and severe nausea every morning. I desperately need to reach someone that can help resolve this issue, and the corporate phone number either rings off the hook, or prompts me to file a complaint on their website... again. We couldn't afford a moving company, so I've moved all of our furniture for the second time in 4 days, and I'm currently attempting to move our boxed possessions to my mother in laws. Again, the one person I've been able to reach has been extremely cordial and apologetic, but has no ability to help remedy the situation. A business should be run by a team, not one person who doesn't work on the weekends. Life happens EVERYDAY, not just 9-5 during the business week.
I would like to be able to speak to someone with access to the systems required. I simply need to talk to an individual who can help us come to a resolution. This is proving EXTREMELY difficult.
Complaint resolved 1/9/2019. Resident was allowed to move and receive monies back.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I did indeed receive my money back. However, I STILL haven't been able to speak to corporate past a short conversation with the manager of the property. I've been moved out for almost a whole month, and it's absurd that no one has reached out to me yet. I would very much so like to speak with someone in a position of power to explain the conditions at the complex in question. It's not about a refund, it's about the fact that the unit was allowed to be leased in such terrible shape. I don't want this situation to happen to anyone ever again.
