Custom Metal Products

Review: In October, 2013, I contracted Custom Metal Product (in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn) to repair and restore the iron staircase railings on my brownstone stoop and to repair my curbside fence. Concerned about led that may result from the onsite restoration, I suggested that the railings be removed and restored at Custom's workshop, and then subsequently re-installed. Shortly after both railings were re-istalled, the area received some rainfall. In the immediate aftermath, I noticed rust on my stoop in all the areas where the railings were reconnected with the metal pieces that were left in the stoop. I contacted Custom Metal about this problem. About a few days following the call, someone came to my home to work on the railings (I wasn't home at the time); it seemed the worker merely scrubbed the rust from the stoop, but did not apply a protective treatment. Shortly after the worker came out, the area again received more rainfall and the rust reappeared. I again contacted Custom Metal. At one point, the owner contacted me directly and scheduled a visit, but called the day prior to his visit to cancel because of the impending snow the area was expecting. Since that time (about 2 weeks to the date), no one has contacted me to reschedule. This situation has extended for about a month now. I'm extremely disappointed by Custom Metal Products' poor customer service and lack of integrity and professionalism. Custom Metal Products received its payment as per our contract, but has failed to guarantee me the professional craftsmanship it claims to deliver.Desired Settlement: I would like this matter to be resolved by 1- having my ironwork appropriately treated to safeguard against rust and the elements and 2- having Custom Metal Products compensate me for the damage to my stoop, which was also recently restored.
