Ford Escape (under 100,km) Aug 2013-intermittent single knock-type noise coming from below the steering shaft when turning right mainlyWent to Meineke on Wellington Road and was told when I called for status update that mechanics spent hrs going over the vehicle but couldn't find a problem - then got a call mins later saying that it was the rack and pinion and it should be replaced, as it would be dangerous otherwise ($955.46) Last month, May 2015, heard the exact same knock-type noise in the same place Went to Meineke on Dundas Street [redacted] This time, it was a flex pipe repair ($175.00) I asked [redacted] why the rack/pinion was replaced previously when I had the same issue and this time a flex pipe repair resolved the issue He hadn't heard the noise I was referring to either time, but told me it was not the same noise ...it was something different It was a distinct noise and it was the samevery disappointing experience
I was told by the owner on Dundas St. that they would not do an oil change for me, because they noticed that I had been there before, they pointed out some repairs that needed to be done, and they asked me where I got them done. When I told them I went to my mechanic[redacted] I said I like going there for the price and road side assistance. They told me that they were not oil jockeys, so I asked are you telling me that you will not give me an oil change, they said correct We will not give you an oil change [redacted]I was very upset, not a way to do business
