Had my checkbook in hand and asked specifically if he preferred cash or check. He said cash. When he learned I only had $60 cash he just said I will take that. And off he went. Of course - because I can cancel a check and he can hide cash from the IRS! My landscaper came on Tuesday the following...
week and remedied the problem. 1 - wrong type of valve in stalled and 2 - wiring was done wrong. It took my landscaper $30 and 10 minutes to fix the problem using the correct style valves (on both solenoids!). He would be glad to put this in writing. No changes to timing were made - I'm not sure how you can "over program" a simple watering timer. That's pretty funny. Finally, what kind of person does service work and doesn't test their work - regardless of what he or I say? Bottom line - I don't care about the $60. But every consumer out there needs to know that this business lies, cheats, and argues. I don't care how experienced he is or claims to be, a customer should never be treated with such disrespect. Not to mention the work wasn't done right in the first place. Pretty sad that he had to behave that way.
In response:Was called to repair stuck valve. Valve at least 5 years old. I checked timer. Would not advance the way it should and turned off system. Discovered solenoid was burned out. Replaced valve. Customer watched me do this. I checked system manually. (Customer claims I did not) Timer not working correctly. Timer over programmed or needs replacing. Customer got very defensive. We disagreed on how to work timer. New Valve not working properly. Told me to stop and asked what he owed me for now. Break in the line had not been done yet. I told$78.00 for the valve repair. Nothing said about cash or check. I take both. Said he had $60.00cash would write check for balance. I took the $60.00 and left. Customer has servjce call and new valve for $60.00 not $78.00. Customer was argumentative from start. I was called for my expertise with system and was interfered with completing the job. I did not harm his system. I would have completed was necessary to do if he had not told me to leave his property.[redacted]
