Crunch Fitness

This is my review from *** My Business of my experience with Crunch Fitness:

I can't find a single good thing to say about Crunch and I'd give a lower rating if possible. Our experience with Crunch has been nothing but disappointing. We signed up online and picked up our key tag in person to speed up the process, picking their 'no contract' month-to-month' membership which is a joke.

I can't say what their in-person contracts on their no contract memberships look like. But corporate and the Casselberry location must not communicate whatsoever. The contract is old, stating a $39 dollar annual fee. (We later found out this wasn't true.) There was also no clause in the agreement about not being able to get out of the membership before the 3-month mark. When we went to cancel the membership, within this 3-month period (which we weren't aware of but found about when we tried to cancel), we also learned there was a $54 annual instead of $39 as our agreement stated.

We wanted to give Crunch the benefit of the doubt. We went home and double checked our agreements. Nowhere was the section about not canceling within 3 months. I have never seen another gym month-by-month set up like this. Another phone call and their explanation was 'oh that's strange, we have it.' It doesn't really matter to me what's on your contract when what I signed my name in agreeance to had no mention of this.

So, the best we could do was put a freeze on our account and call back on the date of unfreeze. We'd still have to pay the annual, just not the monthly. Guess what? Both my spouse and I got our monthly fees taken out of our accounts alongside the annual.

I've since signed up with YouFit, who are much less of a pain, have more equipment, and fewer teenage boys running around in packs hogging equipment. If you're going to Crunch to socialize with all of the Orlando area have at it. They're all there. The gym is over-packed at all times of the day. If you're there to have a serious workout, don't bother with this pathetic excuse of a gym.

These people need to work on their customer service and operations instead of sending out a ridiculous number of cutesy text notifications, I don't care about your open house in the middle of a pandemic.

Overall, I have a number of other gripes. The biggest problem, however, is getting stuck at a gym you wanted a month-by-month membership at and having to deal with little kids behind the front desk who can't come up with an answer to anything. It shouldn't take more than one trip up to the gym to take care of a membership problem. Train your staff better.

Also, to whoever is managing your *** My Business account, don't bother trying to placate me or explain away this situation with your pitiful responses. Nothing you can do at this point will make up for the utter frustration you've put us through. And, surprise surprise, we aren't the only ones. I found at least one or two other reviews with this same problem. Looks like a trend, huh?

8/18/2020 Update: In response to Crunch's response, neither the annual fee nor the 90-day cancellation policy were clear upon sign-up online. Maybe you should add this PDF to your onboarding process. I'm sure many people would love to know this information before getting locked into a predatory contract with your subpar gym. This is nowhere in my contract, which I have reviewed multiple times and have had sent to me multiple times. The contract you tote around should be the identical one I agreed to upon sign up and should have been emailed to me word for work in my agreement confirmation. Unfortunately for you, it was not. I am waiting on a response back from your corporate office. Try responding to that email instead of replying to this review. You are more concerned with how your future clients see you versus solving any problems with existing clients.
