I went personally to the *** Crunch Fitness location at the end of September to cancel my membership in person. I was given a number to call and cancel and tried repeatedely over the next few weeks in October to cancel on the phone and I was not able to reach a single person on the phone, for several weeks, trying multiple times a day. I called the gym again and they gave me the same number and said I had to keep trying. I would stay on the line upwards of 40 minutes without any response from anyone at various times of the day.
I subsequently *** messaged one of the fitness instructors to see if she could put me in touch with someone at the gym. I e-mailed someone at the gym on Oct 25th to see if they would cancel my membership. The person at the gym responded that he could cancel my membership or give me a free month given they are doing renovations and perhaps that would influence my decision to stay. I said I wanted to cancel effectively immediately on Nov 1. I still have not heard back from them. I have had to pay unnecessary membership fees for October and now scheduled fees for November 2018. I think the cancellation process for this gym is completely *** and I can't believe I could not get in touch with anyone via phone for 3 weeks. I believe this is part of the way that members continue to pay fees as it is so challenging to cancel the membership. This cancellation process did not respect my time or value me as a customer and made me absolutely certain I want to leave this gym.
I want full credit for the fees charged to me for October and any pending fees for November.
WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE IN NOT REACHING ONE OF OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS - UNFORTUNATELY THERE ARE HIGH CALL VOLUMES AND WE DO OUR VERY BEST TO SERVICE OUR MEMBERS IN A TIMELY MANNER - UNFORTUNATELY AT THIS TIME THE ONLY DOCUMENTATION WE HAVE CONFIRMING YOUR REQUEST FOR CANCELLATION IS THE EMAIL FROM THE FITNESS INSTRUCTOR ON OCT 25, 2018 - ALL MEMBERSHIPS REQUIRE 30 DAYS NOTICE TO CANCEL WHICH WOULD OBLIGATE THE NOVEMBER PAYMENTS - HOWEVER WE WISH TO RESOLVE THIS FOR THE MEMBER - IF THE MEMBER ATTEMPTED TO REACH OUR OFFICE TO CANCEL AT THE END OF SEPT AS INDICATED IN THE COMPLAINT THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN 30 DAYS NOTICE REQUIRED MAKING THE OCT PAYMENTS OBLIGATED - AS A COURTESY WE WILL RETURN THE NOVEMBER PAYMENT TO THE MEMBERS ACCOUNT AND ENSURE NO FURTHER CHARGES PROCESS - WE NOW CONSIDER THIS ACCOUNT CANCELLED AND RESOLVED WITH NO FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED - THANK YOU
