Crown Auto Center Reviews (2)

Review: My car was rear-ended and towed from the highway by Crown Auto and held at the Crown Auto lot. I was instructed by the insurance company that because my car had been deemed a "total loss," it was my responsibility to go to the Crown Auto lot and retrieve my license plates from my car and any personal items. I was told by both the Crown Auto employee who towed my car and the Crown Auto receptionist, who answered my call, that I could come and access my car at the Crown Auto lot. When I arrived at the Crown Auto lot I was not allow access to my car.Desired Settlement: I would like Crown Auto to allow car owners access to their cars that have been towed to the Crown Auto lot.

Review: On 4/18/13 my car was illegally towed from the complex where I reside. Crown Towing is the contracted company to P[redacted] (formerly [redacted]). When I contacted the tow company, I was told that my car had no residential parking sticker in the window but it did. When the woman that answered placed me on hold and went outside to check she returned 5-10minutes later and said,"Oh, I didn't even notice it but that's an invalid sticker. We haven't seen those for years." I explained that the landlord at P[redacted] informed me to use that sticker as their new stickers had not come in yet. She told me I had to take it up with my landlord and pay the tow fees if I wanted my vehicle. When I arrived at Crown Towing, a woman by the name of [redacted], came to the gate and stated she was on the phone waiting to get permission to release my car from her boss, [redacted]. Finally, I went in the gate into the office, signed release papers waiving the bill to my landlord for payment. When I went outside to retrieve my vehicle it was visually damaged on the driver side. The entire back bumper was cracked, a hole to the under carriage of the bumper.I was devastated when [redacted] said,"That's old damage!" while giving my car a slight kick when he said it.He then said all cars that are towed are scan and agreed to check the scanner and agreed that if it showed my car was not damaged at the time it was towed he'd pay for it. He promised he'd check it the next morning as it was late evening when I picked it up.My car was in mint condition. It's a 2007 Honda Accord. All I requested is he pay the $500 deductible and have it fixed. He has since refused to talk with me and has denied all accountability and stated,"Take me to court and prove I did it."It's apparent Crown Towing has no policy to protect the innocent citizens that suffer damages to their property behind the negligence of its employees. With the City of New Haven constantly backing Crown's poor business sense damages will continue to incur.

Product_Or_Service: 2007 Honda Accord

Desired Settlement: I am requesting the repair to my vehicle. If not for the negligence of Crown Towing's employee my car could have been towed without damage. [redacted] should take accountability for it's companies actions instead of turning the other cheek and avoiding the complaints that continue to arise and damages that continue to incur. The City of New Haven should also be held accountable as they're privy to the poor business sense of this company yet continue to back them in contracting Crown.
