I had a fender bender on my car, caused by another party causing a small scratch on the bumper of my vehicle. This was going to be paid by ICBC as the other party was at fault and did not effect my insurance. I had the option to not paint the bumper as it was a small paint damage however, decided to have it fixed properly. I took the car to Craftsman and asked for a quote prior to repair to make sure the cost comes under $ [redacted] . This was to make sure that I do not have to declare the repair at the time of sale of my car (repairs over $ [redacted] have to be declared). The estimate came back around $ [redacted] and I was told that it should not be much more. By the time job was completed, Craftsman Collision charged ICBC over $ [redacted] due to replacing the bumper instead of only painting it. With the new repair total, now I have to declare that I had accidents costing more than $ [redacted] at the time of sale of the car. I phoned the bodyshop and talked to the manager. I told him if the estimate would have included replacement of the bumper at the beginning, I would have opted out of fixing it altogether. He said that he can not do anything at this point !
