Review: I had contracted [redacted] to do some masonary work around my house mid May 2014.

There are two problems.

1. Front walkway from steps to sidewalk cement base was never done.

2. Cement driveway slab was done improperly for the following reasons.:

A. There were no expansion joints as required where concrete slab meets two concrete side retaining walls,

therefore essentially locking the slab between two walls and promoting future cracking due to

no expansion or contraction.

B. No gravel underlayment was placed underneath the concrete. Concrete was poured directly onto

semi-loose poorly compacted dirt. Gravel is used as a water drainer and concrete isolator. Without

gravel water would lay right below the concrete and in winter it would freeze and crack the slab above.

This poor work was done on all the other cement work done around the property. There were numerous failed attempts to [redacted]

by phone and mail to have this rectified. He however insisted the job was done correctly even though it goes against all known common building

procedures. I was therefore, due to time constraints forced to hire another contractor to redo the job correctly according to NYC building code.

It cost me $7,500 do redo the driveway concrete which included breaking up the new concrete done by [redacted] not including delays on the job

and aggravation. In my opinion [redacted] being a Landscaper had no experience doing concrete work and was unaware of common practices.Desired Settlement: I would like [redacted] to at the very least refund me the $7,500 it cost me to redo the concrete driveway properly.

I lost more in the delays he caused the project but I would be willing to settle for my out of pocket cost.
