March 10, 2015Dear Sir or Madam:On February a large portion of Woodbridge, VA was affected by a power outage caused by stormsThe outage lasted approximately hours, during which time the hotel staff did its best to ensure that guests were comfortableAs with any area-wide blackout, individual businesses and homeowners had no idea how long the outage would last, and we were totally dependent upon Dominion Power to restore powerWhen [redacted] asked “over and over” when the power would be restored the staff told him the power company was working to correct the problem, and would restore power as soon as possible-When [redacted] spoke with me on February he told me he did not stop at the desk to inform us that he was leavingAs far as we could tell, he and his girlfriend were in the room all nightDespite [redacted] ***' belief, people were not given refunds for a two-hour area-wide power outage that was not the fault of the hotelIn most instances, when people expressed dissatisfaction with being inconvenienced they were offered complimentary breakfast the following morning, or bonus Marriott Rewards points[redacted] booked his room through a third-party site, meaning he paid an outside agent rather than the hotelFrom our end, it is not possible to see how much Hotels.com charged [redacted] for his room, nor can we see the method of payment [redacted] usedThis is why the hotel cannot refund money to the guestWhen we spoke advised [redacted] to contact [redacted] .com.General Manager
