Countryside Animal Clinic

This clinic charges $12 if you want to get a prescription for heartworm medicine that you can take elsewhere. Be warned, if you take that prescription to a pharmacy that has a generic version of that same medicine and the pharmacist calls the clinic to obtain permission to dispense the generic version, this clinic may deny permission even though there is no medical reason to do so. I feel this is an unfair practice they are doing to try to stop people from getting the same medicine for more affordable prices.
I questioned their policy on this and was told I should have asked for a prescription for the generic drug - which I did not even know existed until after the pharmacist told me when I picked up and paid for the medicine. I trusted that a vet clinic would not deny permission without a medical reason, so unfortunately I paid the full price plus the $12 before finding out that they actually do not have any medical reason to deny permission for a pharmacy to dispense the cheaper version of this medicine. Very disappointing.
